Be it known that I, ALEXANDER S. KoZnLL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lorain, in the county of Lorain, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvement in Non-Refillable Bottles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to a non-refllable bottle.

An object of the invention is to provide a bottle of this character which may be filled and then secured in such a way that the refilling of the same will be e-'ectively prevented by providing means on the bottle which must necessarily be broken in order that the bottle may be opened.

Vith this and other objects in view, this invention comprises the combination and arrangement of parts as herein set forth and subsequently claimed.

Referring` to the drawing: Figure l is a side elevation of my device. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the device. Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. l with the closure plate removed. Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view of the closure plate.

Referring to the drawing, wherein like parts are indicated by like characters throughout the several views: The neck portion l of the body 2 of the bottle is formed with the usual hole 3 therethrough in which a cork 4 is arranged to be inserted. The neck portion is cut away at its upper end longitudinally, as at 5, to allow the side of the hole 3 to be open and to provide at the lower end of said cut away portion a shoulder 6 of arcuate formation. On the outside of the neck on the side opposite to the cut away portion is an outwardly projecting lug 7 which is cast integral with the neck portion and which has welded therein during the casting a pair of wires 8 and 9 of suiicient length to encircle the neck of the bottle. across the mouth of the neck and closes the same.

In alinement with each of the wires S and 9 is a groove l2 which is formed in the outer face of the neck portion to hold the closure plate in place thereon, they will be prevented from longitudinal movement by said grooves and held in their desired positions. After the4 wires have been drawn about the neck and closure plate and the ends secured together, the ends are located in such position by lead seals 13 and le which necessitate the breaking of the wires in order that the closure plate may be removed.

On the inner face of the closure plate near the lower end thereof is formed an arcuate projection 15 which is arranged so that when the closure plate is drawn in place by the wires on the neck, the said projection will be embedded in the surface of the cork and will thus not only prevent the cork from having longitudinal movement but will also be doubly secured from longitudinal movement by virtue of the engagement with the cork.

In assembling the device the bottle is filled and the cork then put in place in the neck thereof, the closure plate is then placed so that the lower end rests upon the shoulder 6 and the disk l1 rests upon the upper end of the neck, the wires are then drawn about the said closure plate and the ends of the said wires are then drawn tightly into engagement with each other and twisted into such position so that the closure plate is forced inwardly to its final position and the projection l5 embedded in the cork 4:. lVhere the wires are joined at their ends lead seals 13 and 14 are placed upon the ends thereof so that they will be securely held in their secured positions and so that it will be necessary when opening the bottle to break the said wires, and after the wires have been broken it will be impossible to again reiill and cork the bottle so that it will have its original appearance as it will be impossible to provide new wires on the bottle inasmuch as the previous ones used were welded in the projection 7 in such a manner that they cannot be withdrawn therefrom and that it will be impossible to insert new wires in said projection. After the wires have been out the closure plate may be readily removed as is obvious and the cork may then be withdrawn to open f the bottle.

From the foregoing description it may be seen that l have provided a bottle which may not be refilled after the contents have been once emptied to present its original appearance.

l do not wish to be limited to the particular construction of my invention shown, for it is obvious that numerous changes may be made within the scope of the invention with departing from the spirit of the invention.

What is claimed isz- In a device of the class described, a bottle, a neck formed thereon being cut away longitudinally at one side thereof, a shoulder formed at the lower end of said cut away portion, a projection cast on the opposite side of said neck, wires welded in Copies of this patent may be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing the said projection, a closure removably mounted on said neck including a shank portion adapted to rest upon the aforementioned shoulder, and a disk Secured at the upper end thereof, grooves formed in the neck member and in the closure plate in alinernent with the wires so that when the same are drawn about the neck and closure plate they will be prevented from longitudinal movement, leaden seals securing the ends of said wires together, a projection on the inner face of said closure plate adapted to be drawn into engagement and embedded in the cork within the neck.
