To all whom it may concern: 7 v 7 Be it known that I, JOHN LETORA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tuolumne, in the county of Tuolumne and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to bottles of the type commonly known as non-refillable, and particularly to "a non-refillable bottle wherein use of same a second time may be detected by a novel construction in breakable necks.
It is my object to provide a non-refillable bottle which will effectually prevent the fraudulent refilling of the bottle.
Another object of my invention is to provide a non-refillable bottle opening of which will so mar its appearance as to render readily apparent the fact that its contents have been abstracted.
A further object of my invention is to provide a non-refillable bottle opening of which will require no effort, and will result in no injury to the contents.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a non-refillable bottle which will be simple and economical of manufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, my invention consists in such details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawing, in which like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which,

Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the body of a bottle provided with a neck 2. The upper portion of the neck 2 is formed with slots 8 disposed in the opposite sides and extending only a partial length thereof for a purpose hereinafter more fully setforth. The lower portion of the neck 2 is reduced interiorly by increasing its thickness thereby forming an annular shoulder 4:-
in its inner wall. Adjacent the shoulder 4: an annular groove 5 is provided in the exterior of the neck 2. It will be noted from Fig. 2 that the inner wall of the neck 2 is beveled outwardly as at 6.
After the filling of the bottle, a stopper 7 is inserted through the neck and fitted tightly into the reduced lower port-ion thereof, so that the upper surface of the stopper 7 lies practically flush with the shoulder 4. The length'of the slots 3 are so regulated as to afford a space between the lower extremi ties thereof and the upper surface of the stopper 7. A plastic composition 8 is then introduced through the neck and molded about the upper surface of the stopper 7 and agaliinst the beveled face of the wall of the neo From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing it will be readily seen that by beveling the inner wall of the neck at 6, the neck is considerably weakened at that point. This beveling has the further function of providing a hold for the plastic composition 8 against the inner wall of the neck, so as to insure the same against accidental displacement. In the opening of the bottle a wedge or a tool of any adaptable form may be inserted in the slots 3 to effect the parting of the opposite sides of the neck. Proximity of the groove 5 to the beveled portion 6 provides against breakage down into the bottle. After the breaking of the neck, the plastic composition may be readily removed, disclosing the upper surface of the stopper.
I desire it to be understood that slight changes in the construction and in the arrangement and combination of the several parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of my invention, provided such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A bottle having a neck and a cork or stopper receiving portion therein provided with an outwardly extending shoulder and the neck being extended upwardly from said shoulder in surrounding relation with the stopper at the outer margin of said shoulder, said neck having an interior groove at its juncture wit-h said shoulder portion for weakening the neck connection with said shoulder portions and forming a holding shoulder for a molded material covering the stopper and extending up into the neck by interior and exterior weakening portions above said shoulder portion, said neck havare provided to afford a breaking line, subing slots extending downwardly therein tostantially as described.
