With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated and claimed.

Referring to the drawings: Figure 1 is z view of the envelop blank extended. Fig. 2 is a plan view showing the blank partly folded. Fig. 3 is a rear elevation of the envelop in condition to receive a letter. Fig. l is a rear elevation showing the envelop sealed. In the drawings, 1 designates the face wall or body of the envelop having the end flaps 2, the bottom flap 3 and the closing flap 4 secured to the edges thereof. The bottom flap is provided with a sealing tongue l, which may be of any desired shape7 but which is here shown as being semi-ovieular and formed by slitting the flap arcuately. as indicated at The inner edge of the tongue is left attached to the flap and the inner face of the tongue is covered with gum or glue.

A triangular tab 6 is formed on the outer edge of the bottom flap 3 and this tab carries a preferably triangular tongue 7 which is formed by incising the flap as at 8. It will of course be understood that this tongue may be made in other shapes if desired. The tongues l and 7 are so positioned with respect to one another that when the tab 6 is folded against the flap 3, the two tongues will be opposed to one another. rEhe base of the tab 6 is longer than the edge of the flap to which it is attached, and therefore the corner portions 9 which are gumnied7 project Y beyond the edges of the bottom iap, and are adapted to be passed through slits 1G opening upon the upper edges of the end flaps 2. l y

In bending the blank to form the envelop.l the end flaps are first folded against thel inner face of the wall 1, then the tab 6 is Y folded against the inner face of the bottom flap 3 and finally the bottom flap 3 is folded so as to overlap the inner edges of theend flaps 2. The bottom flap is secured` to the edges of the end flaps 2 by the gum indi-V cated by the numeral 11, and the corner portions 9 extend through the slits 10 and are stuck to the inner faces of the flaps 2, as previously mentioned. These corner portions make it practically impossible for a person desiring to clandestinely open theenvelop to insert a sharp or fiat instrument between the end flaps and bottom flap and move it between the stuck portions of the flaps so as to separate lthem without injuring the corner. portions in such fashion as to indicate that the envelop had been opened. The sealing flap e is formed with the two outwardly converging slits 12, which form a centrally located triangular tongue 13 which is guinmed on its'inner side for adherance to the triangular tongue l when the envelop is sealed. After sealing flap e has been secured vin positionv to close the envelop, the tongue e is folded against the outer face of the flap and stuck thereto by the mucilage preferably carried on the tongue. The tipV of the tab 6 may be provided with mucilage as indicated at 6 to secure the tab to the liap 3 when it is folded thereagainst. lVhen the envelop is entirely sealed up the tongues 13, l and 7 the corner 9 will catch any instrument which is used in an endeavor to open the envelop without detection, and when thek instrument strikes these projections it will injure them sov that the envelop may notV again be sealed in such fashion as not show that it has been tampered with.

In the modified form shown in Fig. 7, tongues 14 are provided on the edges of the bottom flap 15 to take the place of the corner portions 9 and the tabs 6. In this form, the

The flap 17 of Fig. 8 is provided With a guinmed tongue 1S hav'- ing its line of connection With the flap perforated as at 19 and said iiaps also formed With ears 20 Which are perforated at their point of connection and indicated at 21. The iiap is triangular and the apex portion 22 is bent on the line 23 to lie against the inner side oi the iiap. This apex portion is provided with a tongue Q4 as shown. The ears 20 may be made of any length desired and may be oi such size as to extend the Whole length of the edges to which they are ttached.

What I claim is:

1. An envelop having a face Wall, end flaps folded thereagainst, said end iiaps haring slits in their upper edges, a bottom iiap secured to the face Wall, a tab carried by the bottom iiap and being folded against the inner face thereof, said tab having corner portions projecting beyond the bottom iap and being extended through said slits in the end iiaps, and a closing ap to fold against and be secured to the bottom and end iiaps.

2. in envelop comprising a face Wall, end iiaps secured to said face Wall, a bottom iap secured to the face Wall, a tab carried by the bottom. flap to fold against the inner face thereof, said tab having a tongue formed therefrom, the bottom ap being provided with a tongue opposed to the tongue of the tab, and a sealing Hap formed with incisions to provide a tongue, said tongue being adapted to coact With said first mentioned tongue.

3. An .envelop comprising a iace Wall, end iaps, a bottom iiap and a sealing iiap, the end flaps being each provided with a. slit, the bottom fiap being provided with a tab lying against the inner side thereo and having corner portions projecting through said slits. the bottom iiap being also provided With a tongue hinged thereto along one edge, the tab having a tongue hinged thereto along one edge and opposed to said first mentioned V tongue, and the sealing iap being formed with a tongue adapted to i'old `into alinement With said first inentionedtongue.

e. An envelop comprising a face Wall end flaps having slits therein carried by the face Wall, a bottoni iap carried bythe face Wall, a tab carried by the bottom flap and adapted 2 to fold against the inner face thereof, a tonguecarried by said tab, a. tongue carried by the bottom iiap and engaging the iirst named tongue, tongues projecting from ci posite sides of the bottom flap and adapted to extend through said slits, a closure flap carried by the face Wall and adapted to toldI against and be secured to the bottoni and end flaps, and a tongue carried by said closure iiap and registering With the rst and second named tongues.
