FRANK H. HOBERG, OF GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN.
PAPER-PACKAGE.
Application filed February 21, 1914:.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK H. Honnae, a citizen of the United States, residing at Green Bay, county of Brown, and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Paper-Packages, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in paper packages.
The object of my invention is to provide a form of paper package which is adapted to be suspended within a cabinet and from which the sheets can be torn successively without causing detached fragments of the sheets to drop and litter the floor or clog the delivery slot of the cabinet.
A further object of my invention is to provide a form of pa kage peculiarly adapted for use in connection with a paper holding cabinet, such as is shown and described in a companion application bearing even date herewith, and in which cabinet a hanger is provided for engaging a dove-tailed portion of the package, substantially at the center of its upper end.
In the drawingsFigure 1 is a front elevation of a paper package embodying my invention, showing the same as it is supported from the cabinet hanger. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same, drawn on line w--m of Fig. 1.
Like parts are identified by the same ref erence characters in both views.
The package A, comprising a series of superposed sheets, is provided with angular slots or slits 13 extending downwardly and convergingly from its upper end to form a dove-tailed portion C between said slots from which the package may be suspended. A binder pin or wire D extends through this dove tailed portion C of the package and serves to hold all the sheets together in package form.
The package is adapted to be suspended from a forwardly projecting arm E of a back plate F, the arm E having a set of depending downwardly, inwardly converging flanges e, which are adapted to enter the slots B, as clearly shown in Fig. 1.
Then the package is suspended from the back plate F by means of the flanges E engaging in the slots B, the sheets may be re Specification of Letters Patent.

moved from the package successively by pulling upon each sheet until the paper composing it tears substantially along the dotted line 7 from one slot B to the other. The sheet will of course tear away from the dove tailed portion C below the binder pin D and usually from the base of one slot B to the other. The fragments, i. c. the dove tailed portion of each sheet, will be held by the binder pin D in the form of a stub, which will remain until the package has been wholly removed, whereupon this stub may be moved forwardly between the flanges e and'thus withdrawn to permit the connection of a fresh package with the hanger.
I claiml. A paper package comprising a series o superposed sheets provided with a central binding wire extending through the central portion of the upper end of the package from front to rear, said package being slitted from its upper end margin downwardly on each side of the binding wire, said slits being adapted to receive a supporting member w iich engages that portion of the package through which the binding wire extends, and the lower ends of said slits being in sutiicient proximity to each other to facilitate a separation of the sheets from the bound portion of the package with each sheet entire except for anotch in the central portion of its upper margin.
2. A paper package comprising a series of superposed sheets having the central portion of its upper end provided with a pair of downwardly and inwardly converging diagonal slits, in combination with a binder extending through the package between the slits, whereby said portion of the package between the slits constitutes a stub from which the sheets may be successively torn away, the lower margins of said slits being in sufiicient proximity to enable the sheets to be readily torn from the stub without requiring perforations or equivalent means to establish tearing lines.
In testimony whereof I ailix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
