IMPROVEMENT IN MOP-H EADS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. i15,815, dated June 13, 1871.
To all whom it may concern.:
Be it known that I, JOHN BRIzEE,ofA1va rado, in the county of Alameda and St'ate of p Galiornia,have invented a new and useful Innproveinent in Mopllead; and I do hereb)7 de Glare that the following is a full7 clear, and eX- act description thereof7 which. will enable oth ers skilled iu the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the aceoinpa-nyingdrawing forming part of this specification.
My invention consists in improving inops,as hereinafter fully described and subsequently pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1. rep resents a side View of a mop-head constructed according to my invention, showing the cloth attached. Fig. 2 is a vertical crosssection of Fig. l on the line x a?.

A is the handle.- B is the mop-head. G represents the cloth of which the mop is composed. D D are clasps or slides, by means of which the jaws are drawn together for confining the cloth. E represents a wire placed within the fold of the cloth. F F are the jaws, the shanks vwise when the mop is in use.
of which are confined in the handle by the ferrule G. These jaws are suiiiuiently elastic to allow of the introduction of the cloth C when the clasps are slipped back.
Before the cloth is introduced, the wire E is placed in the fold. The ends of this4 wire are turned or curved, so that it cannot work end- VVhen the cloth has been thus introduced the clasps l) D are slipped down so as to close the jaws and conine the cloth. The wire E prevents the cloth from pulling through the jaws.
This is a simple and cheap device i'or fastening a mop-cloth, a-nd its advantages must be obvious to lfill.
Having thus described my invention7 I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The handle A, mop-head B, clasps D D, Wire E, jaws F F, and ferrule G, all constructed and arranged together, as and for the purpose specined.
