UNITED- STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EMIL E. YELINEK, or GLUTIER, IOWA.
SHOW-CASE.
Application filed January 13, 1915. Serial No. 2,022.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, EMIL E. YELI'NEK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Clutier, in the county of Tama and State of Iowa, have invented new and useful Improvements in Show-Cases, of which the following is a specification. l
This invention is animproved show case for use in a store or other like place and for displaying razors, scissors and other like articles exposed for sale, the object of the invention being to provide an improved case of this character which is highly ornamental and attractive in appearance, which is cheap and simple in construction, and the parts of which may be readily assembled and disassembled. I V
The invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed. I
In the accompanying drawings -Figure 1 is a perspective view of a show case constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse sectionalview of the same. F ig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the same.
My improved show case is preferably made of glass with nickeled trimmings but may be made of other suitable material and may be of any suitable size andproportion.
The show case comprises a bottom 1, a top 2, a front wall 3, end or side walls 4 and a 'door 5 the latter being arranged opposite the wall 3. The ends of the walls 4 against which the door rests when closed are inclined as at 6. The door is hinged at its lower side to the bottom by means of hinges 7 and is provided with a suitable knob 8. I l
The glass walls and top and bottom of the show case are secured together at points near the corners of the case by substantially U-shaped bands 9 which are arranged vertically and have their upper and lower arms bearing respectively on the upper side of the top and the lower side of the bottom of the case and secured thereto by bolts 10 which are provided with nuts or burs 11 arranged on the inner side of the case. Said bands are arranged on the exterior of the case and are prominently exposed to view and in practice are preferably made of brass or other suitable material and nickel plated.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 5, 1915.
struction of the case and to add greatly to its attractive appearance. The lower' arms of said bands, below the bottom of the case are provided with supporting feet 12 which are here shown as spherical and which enable the case to be readily moved on a counter or the like surface. The lower leaves of the hinges 7 of the door are'also arranged under the bottom of the case and are provided with spherical feet 13 which correspond withthe feet 12.
A shelf 14 is arranged in the case, is spaced substantially midway between the top andbottom of the case, is preferably made of glass and is supported on rods 15 which extend transversely through the case and through opening'sin the side walls 4 thereof and in the bands on said side walls, the said rods being each provided at one end with a head'16'and at the other end with a nut or bur 17 which is ornamental in appearance and which may be readily screwed on or removed from the rod. It will be understood that these rods in addition to supporting the shelf also coact therewith in bracing and strengthening the case.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:- A
The herein described case comprising. av bottom a top, side wallsand a hinged door,
bands on the outer side of the case',arranged vertically and having arms at their upper and lower ends which respectively bear" on the upper side of the top and the lower side ofthe bottomsaid arms being bolted to the top and bottom and said lower arms-being provided with supporting feet, a shelf in the case and supporting rods for the shelf, extending across the case and through the openings in opposing walls and also throughopenings in certain bands, said rods being provided with heads and nuts bearingon the outer sides of saidbands.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
