Definitions

  • My invention relatesto that class of tassels 1 ⁇ which has the blocks made of glass. They have heretofore been made in a number of parts or sections, held together by a metal tube inserted through them, and strung, like beads, upon a string passing through the tube. These sections and the an ged metal tube that holds them together make them very expensive to the manufacturer, and, of course, correspondingly so to the public. VAgain, the perforations necessary to be madein them and the joints between the sections are receptacles for dirt. In order to clean them they must, each time, be taken apart and each piece cleaned by itself. Again, moisture penetrates the --joints and rusts themetal tube. This soils" the cords, and is objectionable to the lady in cleaning them. My invention to overcome these objections consists in making this ornamental block-weight of solid glass.

PATENT GEEIOE.
JAMES NORMAN, OE BROOKLYN, NEw YORK.
`V IMPROVEMENT IN TASSELS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 116,347, dated May 30, 1871.
`lo all whom it may concern:
` Be it known that I, JAMES NORMAN, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State 4of New York, have invented a new and Im proved Tassel for Window-Curtains; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full,
" clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing `forming a part of this specification.
My invention relatesto that class of tassels 1 `which has the blocks made of glass.
C is the attachingloop; B, the silken or other cords;` and A, the weightblock, made in an ornamental form, but preferably as shown in the drawing. Y
The form may be varied to a certain extent, but it must always be of that configuration which will admit of its being molded in a twopart die.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understanding of my invention, what I esteem as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is
The block A, made of a solid piece vof glass, as specified, combined with cords B and loop G, for the purpose set forth.
The above specification of my invention signed by me this 21st day of February, 1871.
JAMES NORMAN.
