B indicate the eX- vtent' of the expansion of the wings, which is effected by means of clasps, c, which hold the two arms a b in their proper relations to eachother and allow the adj'ustment or expansion, as represented inthe dotted lines, the clasps c sliding with their respective arms when heilig tlius adjusted.

' The Apivots by which the several pieces'of the wings are connected together and attached to the standard O allow tbe wings to" be freely'adjusted into all the positions indicated i the drawing. j

The' rack can be very compactly folded together, because the arms a. b are arranged and connected sol as to leave a space at their pivoted ends, which admits fthe wings to be adjusted'or folded in vertical positions, and also allows each wing'to be unfolded -upon either side of the standard. This capability of vertical compact adjustment and convertibility of, position is due to the provision of tlieshoulder-spaces at s, next to the standard G, and adjoining the legs B, which or left as well as into a vertical position.
