IMPROVEMENT IN PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. IE LQ-SS, dated May 16, 1871.
To all whom, it may concern Be it known that I, THOMAS H. REYNOLDS, of Rome, in the county of Floyd and State of -Georgia, have invented a new and Improved Plow; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use thesame, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents a side view of my improved plow. Fig. 2 is a sectional inverted plan view of the same, taken on the plane of the line am, Fig. 1.

This invention relates to several improvements in the construction of plow-standards and attachments, for the purpose of facilitating the adjustment of all parts to soil and furrows of various kinds.
The invention consists in several details of construction and arrangement, as hereinafter The shoe d is concave on its face, to constitute,
a proper support for the lower part of the plowshare. The lug c of the share passes through an opening in the shoe (1, and is locked thereto by a bolt or pin. The front arm, a, of the standard 13 is by a pin, 6, permanently pivoted to the front part of the plate E. The other arm, I), has a number of apertures, and is by a pin, f, also secured to the plate E, being adjustable to thereby set the point of the plowshare to suitable depth.
The handles D are, extended forward and downward to reach the standard, as shown, and are secured to the latter so as to form a brace for the same.
E is a subsoil attachment to the plow. Itis affixed to a shank, g, which is fitted through the rear part of the plate E, and secured thereto by a pin, it being vertically adjustable, to be set at any height. Between the arms a and b is applied to the plate E a suspended slide, G, which has its lower edge flattened and serves as a landside or support for theplow.
It is fitted through the slot of the plate E, and has a head, h, at its upper end, whereby it is supported from the said plate, but can slide therein.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The slotted plate E, provided with the shoe d, and combined with the plowshare and standard, substantially as and for the purpose herein shown and described.
2. The suspended slide G, arranged 011 the plate E to constitute the landside of the plow, substantially as herein shown and described.
