To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN B. This invention relates to tables for paper hangers and has for its object a table that is convertible into the form of a case so that it may be carried on street cars.
In the drawings, Figure 1, is a longitudi- Flg. 2, 1s a perspecnal section of the table. tive of the table. Fig. 3, is a detail of one of the brackets upon which the straight edge may be rested. Fig. 4, is a cross section of the table converted into a case. Fig. 5, is a perspective of the table converted into a case.
The top of the table is made in the form of two half-boxes A and B. These box portions are hinged together at their ends by the hinges 1. At the opposite ends of the box portions, a pair of legs Qare pivoted on the inside of the box portions. These legs are connected by cross braces 3. The braces 4 are hinged to the meeting ends of the box portion on the inside by the hinges 5. On the ends of the braces are hooks 6 which can be engaged'with the plates 7 that are carried by the crossbraces 3 and bent out at their centers for the reception of the hooks 6. At one side of the table or the box portions are a pair of slots 8 through which slide the arms 9 (shown in Fig. 4,) when the table is set up.
These may be drawn out and another boardproperly placed on them to widen the table. One end of one box portion is provided with the hooks 10 and the'opposite end of at the other box portion is provided with screweyes 11, so that when the table is folded up in the position shown in Fig. 5, the two box portlons may be hooked together, forming a case, in appearance like a suit case, and it may be carried by the handles 12. This case acts as a container in which brushes, straight arms from swinging down when carrying c the straight edge.
That I claim is In a paper-hangers folding table, which comprises a pair of half-boxportions hinged together so that they can befolded together and locked in place, to be easily carried around, and a pair of supporting legs that fold into the box-like portions, the said boxlike portions being provided on one side with a slot in each one, the combination of a pair of brackets secured to the underside of said box-like portions, one in alinement with each slot,,and a pair of arms, one guided in each slot and bracket, and each of such length so that it can be completely withdrawn into the casing formed by the two folded box-like portions when secured together, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof, Isign this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
