IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-CORD RETAINERS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the lame.
I, HENRY HoLoRoFT, of Media, in the county oi' Delaware and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in Curtain-Cord Retainers, of
which the following is a specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the con- -strnction of a cord-retainer, formed of a strip of metal having a buttoned head or pulley at one end, and a series of yholes down the center, with a projection at the bottom for a thumb-piece, and one small oval or round-headed pin driven into the jamb-casing of the window-frame, which cord-retainer and cord may be readily moved to admit of cleaning, without drawing. nails or screws, (that is, the cleaning of the ,wood- Work, &c.,) simply by removing the retainer' from the -oval or round-headed pin.
Description of the Accompanying Drawing.
head of this piu is sufficiently small to allow of it freely passing through the several holes, and the tension of the cord will draw the-retainer A against the' pin D and hold it in'a vertical position. When the tension of the cord becomes slack the retainer 'is drawn down, and ,pin D is inserted in a higher hole till proper tension is obtained; and when it is desirous to clean the window-casing or paint, &c., by simply drawing the retainer from the piu D the whole fixture is removed with the exception of the small pin, and after cleaning it may be replaced without the assistance of either hammer or screw-driver.
Amodication of the same, a small metal chain, maybe substituted for the retainer, having a small pulley fastened at the upper end, and the pin D to be inserted in the links-of the chain to obtain the required tension.
