Description

UNITED STATES PATENT. OFFICE.
WILLIAM H. FAHRNEY, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, lASSIGNOR TO HIMSELP` L j AND JOHN DONALDSON, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN DOOR-STOPS.
I Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l [0,026, dated December 13, 1870.
To all whom it muy concern:
Be it known that I, IVILLIAM H. FAHRNEY,
of the city of Rockford, county of Winnebago,
and State of Illinois, have invented certain Improvements in Door-Stops, of which thev following is a specification.
Whereas on the 31st day of May, 1870, Letters Patent of the United States of America were issued to NVilliam H. Fahrney, assignor to himself and John Donaldson, for improvement in door-stops, now, therefore, the object of this present invention is to improve the same; and it consists, rst, in securing the spring-detent to the body of the stop by means view of the ferrule secured to a section of the In the figures, A represents a door hung upon hinges h h to jamb b of opening B.
C is the stop, in which is placed the cushion I on spiral spring H in chamber G.
K is a spring-detent, with hooking head a,
which drops into the notched outer end of cushion I, and is intended to drop into recess L in plate M on door A, for the purpose of holding it in position, and from which it can be detached by a slight pull upon the door to bring it to. Spring-detent K is of suitable form, and is let into the side of stop C in such a manner that it shall be held firmly in place by means of the ferrule N, when driven on the base of Cv andon outside of spring K, the end ,of which is enlarged or bent inward to prevent it from being drawn out of place When detaching the door therefrom. From the base of the ferrule N outward are projections P P, of suitable size and form, slotted to receive the screws s s, which secure it to the base-board E, and in such a manner that it can be moved.
to or from either side,.as represented in the dotted lines, so as to properly adjust it to receive the door A in such a manner that the hooking head a of spring-detent K shall drop into the recess L in plate M on door A.
I claim as my invention- 1. Securing spring-detent K to stop C by means of ferrule N, substantially as hereinbefore shown and described.
2. Ferrule N, with slotted projections P I), to receive the screws s s, as and for the purpose hereinbefore shown and described.
