Description
J. LQEFFLER. SUSPENDBE BUTTON AND DHAWERS HOOK.
APPLICATION FILED AUG. 6, 1912.
Patented Mar. 28, 1915.
[NVENTOR WITNESSES UNITED STATES JOHN LOEFFLER, OF EVANSVILLE, INDIANA.
- SUSPENDER-BUTTON AND DRAWERS-HOOKI Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 23, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN LOEFFLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Evansville, in the county of Vanderburg and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Suspender-Buttons head 2, which is snugly engaged with the button, while the opposite end is'provided and Drawers-Hooks, of which the following is a specification; I This invention relates to the-class of buttons, hooks, etc., and more particularly to a combined suspender button and drawers hook. I
A11 object of this invention is to detachably associate the button and hook, to permit the removal of either upon being rendered unsuitable for use, means being pro-' eral views and in which,
Figure 1 is a front view of a pants button. Fig. 2 is a section of the device with the drawers hook attached. Fig. 3 is a rear view of the button. Fig. 4: is a rear view of the hook attached to the button. Fig. 5 is a rear view of the hook detached, and Fig. 6 is a section of'the hook showing the lug and spring members.
In the drawings wherein is illustrated the preferred form of this invention, a button 1 is provided which may be of'any desired form, and is provided with a central opening through which a shank 3 passes. One end of the shank is enlarged to provide a with an elongated enlargement 5 for a purpose more fully hereinafter set forth. In order to illustrate the application of the invention, the shank 3 is shown as engaged through a member 4, the latter representing a portion of a pair of trousers.
The drawers-hook in'the present instance comprises a plate 6 tapering toward one end, said tapered end being reversely folded upon itself to provide a hook 7. An elongated transversely extending slot 8 is formed in the plate 6, and is of a size slightly larger than that of the enlargement 5 of the shank 3, to permit said enlargement to be passed through the slot. A portion of the plate 6, subjacent' the opening 8, is struck up at right angles to the-plate to provide an abutment 9 for limiting the movement of the enlargement5, after the latter has been passed through the opening 8. A portion of the plate is partially severed from the plate and bent outwardly therefrom, to provide a spring 10, which is flexed under pressure of the enlargement 5 after the latter has been passed through the opening 8 and turned into engagement with the abutment 9, thereby precluding possibility of casually displacing the drawers-hook from the shank 3.
It will be seen that this combination suspender button and drawers hook may be securely'fastened in place without the aid of any tool whatever and that its construction is so simple as to require but a minimum cost in the manufacture thereof.
In use, the shank 3 ispassed through the garment 4, and the enlargement 5 is passed through the opening 8, whereupon the enlargement is rotated overthe spring so as to be confined between the end thereof and the abutment, thus preventing accidental separation. By depressing the spring and reversing the operation, the parts may' be separated.
I desire it to be understood that I may make slight changes in the. combination and arrangement of' parts without departing from the spirit of the invention, providedsuch changes come within the scope of the appended claim. v
Having thus fully described my inventi n, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A drawers hook including a plate having on adapted to be passed through said openmg and to be rotated over the spring, so as 0 to be held between the end of the spring and the abutment.
JOHN LOEFFLER.
\Vitnesses JOSEPH LOEFFLER, SEBASTIAN LOEFFLER.
