DEVICE FOR HOLDING COLLABS ON COLLAR-BANDS OF SHIRTS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 26, 19115.
Application filed February 28, 1914:. Serial No. 821,715.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX KA'rz, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gloversville, in the county of Fulton and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Holding Collars on CollanBands of Shirts; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon,
r which form a part of this specification.
of a turn down collar showing a loop thereon through which the necktie is adapted to pass. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the rear face of a band of a collar showing a loop thereon and also a loop fastened to the collar band upon a shirt showing a necktie engaging the two loops, and Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view showing the loops drawn together to hold the collar securely in place about the collar band of the shirt.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a collar of the turn down style and B is a loop fastened at its ends transversely across the band of the collar and through which the necktie C is adapted to pass.
E designates a loop or strap which is usually attached to a shirt adjacent to the collar band and provided for the purpose of holding a necktie down in place when used in connection with a standing collar.
In applying the collar made in accordance with my invention, the necktie is threaded through the two loops, one upon the shirt and the other upon the collar and, by drawing the necktie taut, the two loops are drawn together and, when the collar is folded down, the necktie will serve to securely hold the latter in place, thus dispensing with the use of the collar buttons which necessitates the formation of buttonholes and which also tends to bear against the neck of the wearer, making it uncomfortable for the person using such a means for fastening.
What I claim to be new is In combination with the neck band of a collar, a transverse loop fastened to the upper and lower marginal edges of said band at its longitudinal center, a shirt having a collar band, a loop fastened to the shirt immediately below the lower marginal edge of the end thereof and its upper end extending only partially the width of the neck band of the collar, said loops being adapted to be positioned side by side to receive a necktie which is held at its lowest limit by the loop upon the shirt, and the collar held by the necktie bearing against the lower portion of the loop thereof.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afliX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MAX KATZ.
Witnesses:
