A are the pads, which are4 made ot'- wood, and are i "in forro somewhat pearshaped. The two pads A may be both of thesa'me size, or one may he larger or higher than theother, according as both sides or only' one may be ruptured.

B is a plate or piece of sole leather cnt out into thev desired form, wet, and formed into the desired shape. W'hen thus prepared the plate B` Will retain its shape, and at the same time will yield ci' bend in any direetion, recovering its former shape as'soon as the pressnrc is removed.

The pads A are secured to the end parts et' the plate B by` screws or other convenient means.

i G are keepersorividc staples,.the 'ends of which are driven through theleatherplate B, and into the wooden `pads A, and through `which the body of the strap D passes. .lhc keepers or staples Cthus hold the straps -D down clseto the leather plate B, and keep the said strap D directly over the Wooden pads its, to hold the said pads down to their places.

' D is the strap that passes around the cody or the wearer. i

One end of the lstrap D is passed through one of the keepers or staples G, and has holes :formed in 1t to receive the studs e ofthe loop E.

The other end of the strap D is inward throughthe-loop E, is'turned back, and is caught upon a stnd,""il1, attached t'o the padf't., several holes being formed through thei saidvstrap i) to receive the 'said stud F, so that the said strap can ce lengthened or shortened, as may be desired. .1

G isa strap, designed to pass around the inner eine of the thigh of the wearer.

The rear end of the strap G has button-hole formed `in itto receive button attached to the strap D. Y

One or two straps G may he used, as desired, said strap or straps beingr designed to keep the truss in place and prevent it from being' displaced by the necessary increments ci the wearer.
