To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, JOHN G. BAUER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Varsaw, in the county of Wyoming and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding Suit-Boxes, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad "therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to folding boxes and has for its object the production of a simple and efiicient box wherein the same may be folded so as to constitute a rein forcement' for the folded end thereof. Another object of this invention is the production of a simple and eflicient means for bracing the inner ends of the side flaps of the box so as to constitute a rigid partition at each end or side of the box.

\Vith these and other objects in view, this invention consists of certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described r flap 4 Wlll be held out of engagement with and claimed.

By referring to the drawings, it will be seen-that 1 designates the bottom of the box which carries at its rear end a folding wall 2. A top or cover 3 is connected to the folding wall 2 as is clearly'illustrated in Figs. 1 and 4 and this folding wall 2 is provided at each end with a folding reinforcing flap 4.

The bottom portion of the box comprises a body portion having end flaps 5 and a front flap 6. The front fiap 6 is-provided with notched portions 7 into which the lockingfiaps 8 fit'for holding the end flaps- 5 and front flap 6 in their correct position relative to the base ofthe'bottom 1,. o r in other words, at right angles thereto. In using folding boxes of the nature just described, it should be understood that there is a great tendency for the box to tear at the place of folding and especially at the point of connection of the end flaps with the body at the point of folding which would tend to rip the side flaps 9 and 10-longitudinally from the body of the box if this reinforcing portion were not placed in the position as illustrated in Fig. 1. A folding box formed from a blank sheet of material and comprising a primary and an auxiliary section, said sections being connected by an intermediate portion, said primary and auxiliary sections provided with side flanges, said intermediate portion provided with pro ectingtongues adapted to fit between the flange portions of said primary and auxiliary sections of said box, and being free to move away from said flange portions of said sections of said box as said box is opened and said tongues constituting reinforcing means for bracing said sections of said box when the same is in a folded position.
