My invention has relation to an improvement in clothes-rubbers, and consists in the novel arrangement and construction of a corrugated block of wood, guttafpercha, rubber, or other material with elastic straps, which is intended to serve as au efficient iinplenl'ent to assist in rubbing clothes by hand.

A of the drawing represen-ts the finger-block, of any suitable material, made in such shape as to conform to the back of the Ifingers of the hand to the second joint, at which point it projects upward in a shoulder in front of the second joint of the fingers, as seen at a, when the hand is shut. y

The under side of this block is corrugated, asin a common wash-hoard, as shown at b.

B B represent the rubber straps by which the block is held to the hand. The straps are secured to the block at each of its four corners in a suitable manner. The, in gers pass under these straps, as shown in iig. 3.

When the block is attached to the hand and the hanrlshnt, it is operated as one would use his or her knuckles in rubbing clothes either upon a common wash-board, or by rubbing the two blocks together,

one upon either hand, the clothes being between the block and wash-board, or between the two blocks.

The object of the shoulder a, is to keep the block in position under the hand while rubbing, and to push against in rubbing.

This device, for its simplicity, usefulness, and cheapness, renders it a practical device, and serves to protect the knuckles.
