To all fwhom t may concern Be. it known that I, THOMAS SUMMEnsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Parsons, in the county of Luzerne and `State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Non-Refillable Bottle, of which the following is a specication.
The present invention appertains to nonielillable bottles, and aims lto provide anovel and improved device of that character.
It is the object of the present invention to provide va guard o-r protector within the mouth of the bottle neck, in connection with a valve disposed within the bottle neck for therethrough, and unique means for sealing or anchoring the guard or protector within the neck of the bottle to prevent its displacement or removal.
As a more specific object, the present inventionl aims to providel novel means for cementing the guard or protector within the neck of the bottle.
It is also within the scope of the present invention to provide a device of the nature indicated, which will be comparatively simple, non-encumbering, and inexpensive in construction, which will not be subject to corrosion, and which will be practical and eiiicient in its use. y
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the com-` bination and,arrangement'of` parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
The invention has been illustrated yin its preferred embodiment in the accompanying drawing, wherein z- Figure 1 is a longitudinal section through the neck of the bottle, illustrating the present invention applied thereto, the body of the bottle being broken away. fragmental view of the bottle neck, illustrating one of the cement grooves, and designating in dotted lines the position of the groove of the protector or guard. Fig. 3 is a cross section taken `on the line 33 of Fig. 1.

The reduced lower end portion 9 of the tubular guard 5, is provided with an annular series of'diagonal or oblique slots 13 extending from a point adjacent the gasket or band 11, to the lower end of the guard, to provide lateral ports for the loweror inner end of the guard leading from the annular space between the reduced portion 9 and the bottle neck, to the interior of the guard.
A ball valve 14 is disposed within the neck 1 between the guard and is normally seatable upon the valve seat, to close the; passage through the neck, to thereby prevent the relling of the bottle,
without diiculty. i
The tubular guard or protector 5 is sealed or anchored within the bottle neck by means contents to be discharged f' of cement or other plastic material 15 poured into the grooves or channels 3 and lling said grooves and their branches 4, the cement also flowing into the annular groove 12 of the guard 5, in order that when the cement solidies, the same will securely lock the guard 5 against both longitudinal and rotary movements.
The valve seat 2 and cement grooves 3 may be provided in the bottle neck, during the process of manufacture ofbottle, in a vcomparatively inexpensive and facile manner. In assembling the valve and its guard with the bottle neck, the valve is lirst inserted, after which the guard 5 is inserted into the neck, so that the gasket 11 will snugly engage the interior of the neck. Then, the guard 5 is slid inwardly or downwardly to proper position, the gasket 1l closing the space or gap between the guard and interior of the bottle neck, to prevent the cement from flowing or running therebeyond. Then, the cement may be poured into the upper ends of the grooves or channels 3, to lill the branches thereof, the cement iiowing from the said branches into the annular groove or channel 12 of the guard, whereby the guard is rmly anchored in the mouth of the bottle, as soon as the cement solidiiies. l
In practice, the valve and guard are not inserted into the neck until after the bottle has been filled, so that after the valve and guard have been applied in the neck, the subsequent filling or refilling of the bottle is prevented. The contents of the bottle may be readily poured out or decanted, in the usual manner, the valve 111 unseating when the bottle is inverted or tilted properly, in orderthat the contents may iow into the neck of the bottle, and thence through the slots or ports 13 into the tubular guard 5, which serves as a dispensing spout for the bottle. As soon as the bottle isuprighted, the valve 14 willbe reseated, as will be evident.
The guard 5 prevents tampering with the valve, inasmuch as wires, or other implements cannot be inserted through the guard,
to successfully unseat the valve, should neck and guard, for preventing the displacement or removal of theguard, and for sealing1 the gap or space between the guard and nec z.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is z* In combination, a bottle neck, a tubular guard disposed therein, the bottle neck having diametrically opposite Y-shaped recesses whose trunks extend to the Lipper end of the bottle neck, the guard having anannular groove intersecting the branches of the said recesses, cement filling the said recesses and groove, and a valve disposed within the bottle neck below the guard, the guard having ports below the said groove.
