To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VALTER R. BALDWIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Berea, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Chio, have invented certain new andusefulImpi-ovements in Business-Registers, of
which `the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in business registers, and the object is to provide the leaves with `the usual horizontal and vertical columns and to provide every alternate leaf with a transparent strip whereby the balance or other data may be examined on the next sheet.
y The invention consists `of certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts to be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings:fFigure 1 is a view in elevation showing my invention applied; and Fig. 2 is a perspective.
Sheet l of the register can be used for different entries to suitthe user by applying the desired headings at the top of the sheet. I prefer to place the balance at the outer edge of the sheet in the last columns,
and on sheet l, I have formed an opening 4 in the sheet the lengthzof the last column, and have applied to the sheet a transparent strip 3 of paper or other material which is connected thereto. The object of this transparent sheet or strip is to `permit ofthe examination of the balance on sheet 2. By placing the balances in this manner the balance on the second sheet can be ascertained through the transparent sheet or strip without the necessity of turning the first sheet.
Each alternate sheet `will be provided Awith the transparent strip so that the balance on the next sheet underlying the sheet carrying the transparent strip can be examined.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided the leaves of a register which can be adapted for any business system and a portion of each alternate leaf is made transparent so that a portion of the second or following` sheet may be examined through the transparent portion.
It is evident that more or less slight changes might be resorted to in the form and arrangement of the several parts deu i scribed without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention and hence I do not wish to limit myself to the exact construction herein set forth, but:
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
A `business register comprising leaves of the same length provided with vertical and horizontal rulings forming columns, each alternate leaf provided with a vertical opening therein along `one edge thereof, which extends the length of a column, and a transparent sheet located over the opening and securely fastened to the leaf along the edges` of the opening for affording stability to the leaf and permitting ancntire column on the underlying sheet to be examined for supplying information with reference to the data` onthe sheet carrying the transparent sheet.
