Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 10, 1914.
Application filed February 10, 1913. Serial No. 747,499.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTON G. Eocene, a citizen of the United States of America, residing in New York, in the borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hot-lVater Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved hot water bottle of that class in which the screwstopper is not detachable from the bottle, but connected therewith so as to prevent its displacement or loss and have it always handy for application to the neck of the bottle; and for this purpose the invention consists of a water-bottle to the neck and mouth of which is applied a connecting band having a ring-shaped end and a split metallic groniet for reinforcing said end, being adapted to be placed on the neck of the stopper for holding the same always in position on the bottle, without becoming detached therefrom.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a hot-watcr bottle with my improved stopper-device, Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section through the neck and mouth of the watch bottle, drawn on a larger, scale and showing the stopper in closed position therein, and Figs. 3 and t are respectively a detail plan View and a vertical longitudinal section on line l, i, Fig. 3, of the connectingband and split groinet by which the stopper of the water-bottle is connected with the neck of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the different figures of the drawing.
Referring to the drawing, a represents a hot-water bottle made of soft rubber and of any approved construction, 5 the corn tracted and reinforced neck of the same, b the screw-stopper, and 0 the funnel-shaped mouth extending above the neck. To the neck Z) and mouth 0 is applied during vulcanization or otherwise a rubber band (Z, which is preferably made of. two layers which are at their opposite ends connected with a ring 6 of rubber having an extension e which latter is vulcanized to the ends of the rubber band cl, said ring being reinforced by a split metallic groinet ,1. The groniet f may be split at two points and applied to the inside of the ring for reinforcing it, or split at one point only provided the groinet has sufficient elasticity for permitting it to be placed with the ring 0 over the handle 6 of the stopper 6 onto the contracted portion of the handle, as shown in Fig. 1. When the reinforced ring 6 of the band cl is placed over the stopper, the same cannot become detached therefrom, either when the stopper is screwed into the neck of the water-bottle or when it is detached therefrom, so that the accidental loss or niisplacing of the stopper is prevented and the same always within handy and convenient reach for application to the bottle. i
I claim:
lhe combination with the neck and stopper of a hot-water bottle, of a band attached to said neck, a separate ring of elastic material having at one side an extension and vulcanized at said extension beyond the body of the ring to the band, and a split metallic groinet applied to the interior of the ring, said ring and grolnet being adapt ed to be expanded over the head of the stopper.
In testimony, that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
