WATER BAG.

STATES PATENT ornron.
ANTON C. EGGERS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO GOODYEARS INDIA RUBBER GLOVE MFG. CO., OF NEW YORK, N. Y., A CORPO- RATION OF CONNECTICUT.
WATER-BAG- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 12,- 1905.
T LtZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTON C. EGGERS, acitizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the borough of Manhattan and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Water-Bags, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to water-bags, and has among its objects to provide a water-bag in which the handle is so reinforced as to insure the reliable support of the bag while filling or carrying the same.
A further object of the invention is to fur nish a water-bag in which the handle is so constructed and arranged as to be firmly attached to and'efliciently support the neck of the bag.
- With these and other advantages in view the invention consists in a water-bag embodying the novel features and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter described and finally pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, in which corresponding parts are indicated by similar reference characters, Figure l is an elevation of a water-bag constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the reinforcing-core for the handle of the bag, the bag proper being shown in dotted lines. Fig. 3 is a section on line 3 3, Fig. 1; and Fig. A is a section on line 4 4, Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings, a designates the body of the improved bag, which is of any suitable material and preferably of rectangular shape, as shown, being provided at one corner with a neck Z1. Said neck is provided with an outwardly-flaring mouth or funnel f of the usual form for facilitating the filling of the water-bag. Extending about the neck, 6 and connecting the same with the body of the .bag is a handle it of circular or other suitable cross-section. The handle it is made of soft rubber or other flexible material and is-reinforced by a stiffening member constituted by a double core 6, of wire, cord, or other suitable stiffening material, which is embedded in said handle and extends throughout the length of the same, being provided with a terminal loop extending transversely about and embracing the neck of the bag, as shown best i in Fig. 2, so that the handle is thereby materially reinforced and also somewhat stiffened;
In this way the connection of the handle with the neck is also made more effective.
The reinforcing member or core a is molded in the handle and the latter vulcanized to the water-bag at the neck portion and at the upper edge of the body portion of the same, as shown in Fig. 1.
By the construction described a very strong andstiff handle is obtained, which effectively supports the weight of the bag and of the liquid in the same. The necessity of holding the neck with the fingers while filling the bag with hot water is also dispensed with, so that the burning of the fingers is entirely obviated.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. In a water-bag, a stiffening member for the handle extending about the neck.
2. A water-bag having a handle extending about and attached to the neck thereof, and a reinforcing member for said handle also extending about the neck.
3. A water-bag having a reinforcing member embedded in the handle thereof and extending about the neck.
4. A water-bag having a flexible handle attached to the neck thereof, and a stiffening member embedded in said handle at its neckengaging portion and embracing the neck.
5. A water-bag having a handle attached to the neck thereof and provided with a core formed into a loop extending about the neck.
6. A Water-bag having a handle attached to the neck thereof and provided with a double core, said core being formed into a loop embracing the neck.
7. In a water-bag, a handle connecting the neck with the body portion, and a double core embedded in said handle and having a terminal loop extending about said neck.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ANTON C. EGGERS.
