To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES H. FREEBURG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drinking-Cups, of which the following is a specification My invention relates to drinking cups, of a pocket or collapsible type, and one of the main objects thereof is to provide a permanent, sanitary, compact, and comparatively inexpensive cup which may be carried on the person for use at any time, and particularly in such States or localities where common drinking cups have been prohibited by law; a further obficct is to provide means in such cups for ease of drinking the contents thereor" without the necessity for tilting the same, thereby overcoming the frequent spilling of liquids over a person on a railway train; a further object is to so form the drinking means as to serve as a strengthener for the cup; a further object is to form the cup as to permit the removal of said drinking means; and a further object is to so form the cup as to protect the mouthpiece or mouthpieces against contact with exterior objects when said cup is not in use.
My invention is fully described in the following specification of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which like reference characters are used to designate like parts in each of th views, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a cup constructed in accordance with my present invention, collapsed; Fig. 2 is a central, vertical, longitudinal, section therethrough, when in use; and Fig, 3 is a section taken on. the line 33 of Fig. 2.
In the drawings forming a part of this application I have shown a present prefer-red form of embodiment of my invention, comprising a bag-like cup l formed of side plates 5 and 6 of flexible material joined at their edges at 7 and 8, and bottom 9, the entire cup being preferably formed of one piece of material, such as celluloid, alone or fabric reinforced, rubber, fiber, or suitable equivalent, and I provide a notch 10 at the top of each cup edge. These side plates are preferably formed with upwardly and outwardly inclined edges, and the upper edges formed on the arc of a circle wherehy, when the cup is spread open, the top edge thereof in one plane, and I may also, as shown,

the necessity for tilting the cup, although I said cup may betilted and drunk from in the ordinary manner if desired; to maintain the two vertical tube sections in relative positions ll employ a brace rod either secured thereto, or connected therewith in any manner, said tube and brace being preferably, although not necessarily, composed of non corrosive metal, hard rubber, glass, or other suitable material, but it may also be composed of the material of the cup, if desired.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to seciire by Letters Patent, is
