SUSPENSION DEVICE FOR PIGTURES OR, OTHER OBJECTS.
Application filed July 29,
1 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MAGNI GUSTAFSON Fnonnne, a subject of the King of Sweden, and resident of Lilla Essingen, Stockholm, Sweden, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Suspension Devices for Pictures or other Objects, of which the following is a specification, reference being made to the accompanying drawing.
The present invention relates to devices for suspending pictures or other objects,
which devicesas already known-consist of a piece of wire, one part of which wire forms a pin, intended to be driven intoa wall or the like, while another part of the piece of wire forms a hook (or hooks), or the like. A suspension device carried out in accord ance with the present invention is characterized mainly by the fact, that a part of the wire, situated between the pin and the hook, is passed one or more times over the pin, whereby a strengthening of the device is attained.
In the accompanying drawing are shown by way of example two different forms of the present invention.
Figures 1 and 2 show one construction, seen from one side or from the front respectively, while Fig. 3 shows the other construction, seen from one side.
The suspension device shown in Figs. 1 and 2 consists of a piece of wire, one end of which wire is pointed, so that one end part of the wire forms a pin 1, intended to be driven into a wall 2 or the like. The pin continues with a bent part of the wire in a part 3, which, when the device is fixed in a wall, extends downward and inward toward the wall, and the said part 3 continues with a bending of the wire in a part 1, which extends upward along the wall on one side of the pin 1 inserted in the wall. W'ith a part 5 of the wire bent over the pin the part 4- continues in a part 6, which extends downward along the wall on the other side of the pin, and which part 6 forms the shank of the hook 7 of the bearing device. The part 5 of the Wire, which is passed over the pin, should preferably rest upon the pin, whereby is attained the advantage that the load on the hook is transferred as directly Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 3, 1914.. 1912. Serial No. 711,984.
as possible to the pin (and thus to the wall), the pin being driven into the wall so far that the1 part 5 is brought to rest against the said wa l.
lVhen thedevice is fixed into a wall, one should take care that the parts 4 and 6-rest ture, it yields or springs out from the wall. This springing movement is rendered possible by the bent transitions between the hook and the pin.
In the form shown in Fig. 3, each of the end parts of thewire forms a pin 1 and l respectively. When the device is fixed in a wall, the pins 1 and 1 lie in the same vertical plane. The part of the wire situated between the two pins forms two hooks 7 and 7* (suitable for suspending e. g. a hat and coat), and the part5 which continues in the hook shank 6 is carried several times over the pin 1, forming a winding around it. It will be noted from an inspection of the drawing that the loop which surrounds the slanting pin portion is disposed at an angle thereto but in a plane parallel with the plane of the support. As the pin is slid upwardly upon the pin for binding engagement therewith, and by its resiliency will also be forced into engagement with the support, therebv holding the pin against rotation which might serve to cause the dis placement of the device.
