To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY IVEN", a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing "at Chicago, in the county of Cook, State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Fences; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The presentinvention is directedto portable fences, and has forits object to so construct a device of this character that the same can be easily and quickly folded for transportation. p i

A further object of the invention is to provide a fence of this character so constructed that the same can be readily attached to the ends of railway ties at places so as to prevent persons from passing from one track to another.

\Vith these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 1s a side elevation of the fence.

Fig. 2 is a sectional view on line 22 of Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 33 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is an end view of one of the uprights and the supporting base folded.

Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates a complete section, any number of which may be used as the occasion may require, and in the present instance a'p'air of complete sections are shown.
