The present invention. appertains to a trousers or garment hanger, press. and

stretcher, and aims to providea novel and.

improved contrivance ofth'atnature.

It is the obj ectof the present invention to provide azdevice embodying-a unique assemblage ofcomponent parts, whereby the same will be'peculiarly adapted for both pressing andstretching one or more pairs of trousers. Anotherobject of the present invention is to provide anyappliance of the character specified, which may be employed for stretching the trousers legs longitudinally as well as transversely or laterally, and for simultaneously;pressing or creasing the i I i devices. In use, to place a, pair of-trousers in the presses 1, the same arepreferably laid upon levers 14 will be drawn-toward each other,-

The presses 1 are then suspended from a nail, hook, or other supporting -means, through the medium ofithe suspending rod which wilhcause thef 'presses' 1 to have, a

spreading -orseparating action, due to their tendency togravitateand swing withlthe toggle links or levers 8Q 'The weight of the presses and trousers thus creates a transverse tension upon the trousers legs, which will serve' to fstretch the same in order to remove wrinkles 'or false cre ses; The

stretching actionwill thus be rendered auto- I I matic, the tension being applied tothe trousers legs, as. long as the device-is suspended bythe rod 10.

The trousers may be removed readilyby opening the clamping bars 2 ofthe presses,

after the latches 18 are liberated, as Will beclearly obvious from the foregoing without further comment. A number of pairs of .trousers may be pressed and stretched simultaneously, with the present contri'vance, and

The present device thus provides a combination suit hanger and trousers press of considerable utility.

' From the foregoing, taken in connection fwith the drawings, the other advantages and capabilities of the present device will be obvious without thenecessity of extensive de- I scription, it being noted that the objects aimed at have been carried out satisfactorily by the clamping bars, and clamps for the said bars, Q each clamp embodying'apair of pivoted levers connected tothe remote sides of the bars,

2. -A garment pres's comprising a pair of clamping bars, and clamps for, the said bars, each clamp embodying a pair of pivoted levers connected to the remote sides of: the

bars, a latch pivoted to one lever, intermediate the ends thereof and adaptedtoiswing into' and out of engagement'with the other lever, and an adjustable member carried by the latch and engageable with, the last men tioned lever for swinging the levers toward one another. I

3. A garmentpresscomprising a pair of clamping bars, and clamps for the said bars,

each clamp'embodying a pair of pivoted levers connected to the remote sides of the 'bars,a latch pivoted to one lever intermedi ateits ends, asaddle slidable upon the latch and engageable with the other lever, and a nut threaded upon-the latch and cooperable with the saddle.

4. A garment press comprising a pair of clamping bars, and clamps for the said bars, each clamp embodying a pair of pivoted levers connected to the remote sides of the bars, a U-shaped latch pivoted to one lever,

a'saddle slidably engaging the arms of the latch and engageable over the other lever, and means for adjusting the'saddle along the latch. v t

5. A garment press comprising a pair of clamping bars, and clamps for the said bars, each clamp embodying apair of pivoted levers connected to the remote sides of the bars, a U-shap'ed latch having its intermediate portion pivoted through one of the levers, a saddle having angularapertured ears slidable upon the arms of the latch, the sad dle being adapted to straddle the other lever, and a nut threaded upon one arm of the latch and cooperating with the saddle.

6. In a garment press, a pair of clamping bars, and clamping devices therefor, each embodying a pair of levers connected at certain ends to the'remote sides of the bars, the other end portions of the levers being curved and pivoted together, a latch pivoted to one lever intermediate its ends, and an adjust able saddle carried by the latch and engageable with the other lever.
