manipulated means for shaping a garment and holding it to its shaped form for receiving the finishing or final pressing operation.

Generically, the invention comprehends a suitable support, a shaping frame hingedly connected to the said support, and ada ted to be sustained in either a vertical or orizontal position, said shaping frame being composed of adjustable members and means for regulating the same whereby to provide for shaping garments of different sizes.

Inits more complete nature, my invention embodies, in connection with means for sustaining the shaping frame in a vertical or horizontal position, a shaping frame formed of expansible sections, including arm and neck portions and adjusting means cooperatively connected with the several sections in such manner whereby the said sections can be contracted or expanded to bring the different sized garments to the desired form, and for sustaining the garment to its stretched or shaped condition under such rigidity as to admit of the complete pressing or finishing operation thereof.

In its more subordinate features, my invention consists in certain details of construction and peculiar combination of parts, all of which will hereinafter be fully described, pointed out in the appended claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,

veniently securing it to the shop floor as The upper end of the said supporting bar R is squared as at R and the said end engages a socket R formed in a ball and socket connection shown in detail in Figs. 7 and 8, by reference to which it will be seen that the said connection has a slot way 1" at one side that extends from the horizontal to the vertical plane, whereby to permit the neck or lower end of the brace member b (which carries the ball 10, shown in dotted lines in Fig. 7 that engages the ball socket in the said connection) to swing vertically in the said slot way whereby to bring the shaping frame to the vertical or garment shaping position or in the horizontal or pressing position.

To provide for properly fitting the ball 10 onthe lower end of the brace member 6 within the socket joint, the latter is formed of sections that are bolted together as best shownin- Figs. 7 and 8, by reference to which it will be also observed that inthe upper end of the socket opening in which the brace mem ber 1) moves, is mounted an open ended. clamp spring T that clamps over the neck of the member bwhen it is moved up to the vertical position and holds it to the said position.

In alinement with the standard R is a second standard or support U having a concaved seat a and a slot 10 communicating therewith at the upper end for receiving the upper ball and neck portion of the brace member I), when the frame is suuing down to the horizontal or pressing position, as shovni in Fig. 1.

By reason of connecting the shaping frame members to the adjusting device and mounting the adjusting devices on the brace mem ber b as shown and described, it is manifest that when at the pressing position, the frame will form a rigid frame on which the garment is held in perfect shape, ready to receive the final fitting, the pressing operation which can be conveniently and artistically done since the garment with the frame can be rotated in. the supports.

From the foregoing taken in connection with theaccompanying drawings, the complete construction and the manner-in which the garment can be set or shaped and. then posltioned for the pressing operation, will bereadily apparent.

By the use of my invention, coats of almost any size can be set or shaped by simply adjusting the feed rods for the body, and the sleeves, and by adjusting the slide blocks 2 the action of the said feed rod and the meanscontrolled thereby may be regulated to suit the particular style the garment is-to be shaped.

While I prefer to arrange the several parts as shown and described, they may be varied or modified without departing from my i11- vention or the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. An apparatus of the character described, comprising a pair of disconnected supports, a garment shaping and holding frame hinged toone of the supports, and means for sustaining the frame either in a vertical or a horizontal plane with respect to the two supports.

2. An apparatus of the character described, comprising a pair of separated supporting members, a garment holding and shaping frame rotatably mounted on the supporting members and having a hinged connection with one of the supporting members whereby it can be moved to a vertical or horizontal position with respect to the two supporting members, as set forth.

4. An apparatus of the character described, comprising a pair of suitable supports, a garment holdin and shaping means connected thereto for a justment to a vertical or to a horizontal position and rotatably mounted with respect to the said supports.

5. An apparatus of the character described, comprising a pair of supports, a garment holding and shaping frame hingedly mounted in one of the said supports, its upper end being arranged to rest on the other support when the frame is swung to a horizontal position, the said frame, when horizontally mounted on the supports, being rotatably held thereon, as set forth.

6. In an appliance of the character described, a garment holding and shaping frame, consisting of two fixedly held front and back body sections, a support to which the said two sections are connected, two side sections disconnected from the body sections laterally adjustable with respect to each other and to the support, sleeve members mounted on the adjustable sections, means mounted on the support for moving the adjustable sections to and from each other, and means cooperating with the sleeve members for adjusting the said members, as set' forth.

7. In an apparatus of the character described, a support, front and back shaping members securedthereto, two end half sections slidably mounted between the front and back shaping members, each having a rounded shoulder portion, arm members each having a concaved end for engaging the rounded shoulder of the slidable sections, means for pivotally connecting the arms to said side sections and means mounted on the support and cooperatively connected to the two side sections for moving said sections toward and from each other, as set forth.

8. In a garment shaping and holding appliance, the combination with a centrally disposed supporting member, a garment holding frame consisting of two fixedly held sections and two sections wholly adjustable laterally with respect to the support, said sections including members telescopically engaging the fixedly held sections for closing the gap between the two sections and adjusting devices mounted on the support and connected with the arment holding movable frame sections or laterally adjusting said frame sections, as set forth.

9. In an apparatus of the character described, the combination with a support, the front and back sections and the j shaped side sections, of a lever bar fulcrumed near one end on each of the side sections, an upper, a lower and intermediate slide block mounted on the support, toggle levers connected to the upper and central slide blocks and to the upper end of the lever bars, link -members pivotally connected to the lower slide block and the lower end of the lever bars, a single feed screw mounted on the support having right and left screw threads, the upper and central slide blocks having screw apertures to receive the said screw rod and means for holding the lower slide block to its vertically adjusted position, as set forth.

10. In a garment shaping and pressing means of the character described, the combination with one of the L] shaped side members, having a convexed or shoulder portion provided with a slot, of a sleeve setting and shaping means comprising a pair of opposite form sections braced to each other, a pair of l shaped laterally adjustable sections mounted between the other sections, means mounted in the braces of the said sections for setting the movable sections, said means consistin of a turn rod having right and left threads, a head on the inner end, the neck of which plays through the slot in the U shaped side sections, a pair of threaded blocks that engage the right and left threads of the rod and toggle levers that connect said blocks with the adjustable sections, substantially as shown and for the purposes described.
