UNITED STATES" PATENT OFFICE.
S'TEPHAN s. BRONARS-KY, or CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
COMBINED IRO NING -TABLE AND STEP-LADDER.
,l'h all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, STEPHAN S. BRONAR- asubject of the Emperor of Austrial'lungary, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in t oinbin ed Ironing-Tables and Step-Ladders,
useful improvements in a combined ironing table and step-ladder. An object of the inventionisto provide a device capable of use both'as an ironingboard and step-ladder which may be readily collapsed to assume a folded position and cistended to be ready for use.
Vith the above general objects in View and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be heremore fully described and then In the accompanying drawing which shows the preferred embodiments of my inrention and to which reference is had herein by like characters designating corresponding parts views:Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the device in use as an ironing board. Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of the device in use as a step-ladder. Fig. 3 is a dctail plan view of one end of the board shown by Fig. 1, the ladder section is folded showing the iron rest. Fig. 4 is a detail sectional view taken on line IVIV of Fig. Fig. 5 is a detail plan view of a portion of the opposite end of the board, and Fig. 6 is a detail perspective view of the support ing leg for the board.
Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawings, the reference numeral 10 designates an ironing-board which may be constructed of the usual shape and form, having pivoted to one end thereof as at 11 an iron rest 12 which may be swung on its pivot to the desired position to increase the plane surface of the board 10. The opposite end of the board is provided with any number of spaced openings 13 and the object of these openings is to provide a steady rest for the feet of a gas stove or other object placed thereon when the device is in the position shown by Fig. 1.
hen the device is to be used as an ironing-table and caused to assume the position Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed June 1, 1914. Serial No. 842,283.
l7 to be received within a similarly shaped socket 18 formed in the under face of the board 10. The head 16 is further braced from movement relative to the board 10 by the end projections 19 engaging the sides of the board and to secure the leg 14 to the board 10, hooks 20 carried by the under face of the board 10 engage the eye bolts 21 carried by the head 16.
The folded ladder section before men tioned comprises the upper and lower side rails 22 and 23' being connected together bysuitable spaced rungs 25. The upper side rails 22 are hingedly connected as at 26 to a head block 27 having its upper edge received in a suitably shaped socket 28 formed .in the under face of the board 10. A hook 29 carried by one of the upper rail sections 22 engages in aneye bolt 30 carried by the adjacent ladder rung. In use as a step-ladder, it is desired that the board 10 which constitutes the supporting leg for the ladder and the ladder rails 22 and 23 be limited in their spacing movement and this object is accomplished by a pair of ropes 31 secured to the under face of the board 10 and carrying rings 32 that engage pins 33 carried by ladder rungs 25.
The operation of the device will be clearly apparent from the description of the device and the construction shown and in use as an ironing table, as shown in Fig. 1, the leg 14 held to the board 10 by the hook and eye connection 20 and 21 constitutes a support for one end of the board, while the opposite end of the board is supported by the folded ladder sections 22 and 23, these sections being held in folded position by the hook and eye connection 29 and 30..
hen the device is to be used as a stepladder as shown by Fig. 2, the hook and eye connection 20 and 21 is released and the leg 14 removed from the board 10, after which the hook and eye connection 29 and 30 holding the ladder sections in folded position is released, whereupon the ladder sections will be unfolded and caused to assume the position shown by Fig. 2 with the spacing ropes Ell engaging the ladder sections to limit the opening movement tl'lOl'GO'f.
While I have hown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, 1. do not wish to confine myself to the exact details of construction shown, as various forms modifications and arrangements of parts as shown may he had withont departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
\Vhat I claim as new is:-
1. In a device oi? the class described, an ironing-hoard, a socket :lfornied in the under face of one end thereot, a leg :tor snpporting the soeketed end of the board, a head hloek carried by said leg, a projection carried by said block and adapted to he received within the socket, said block carrying end projections adapted to engage the sides of the board to prevent lateral HIG'VQ- nient thereotl and a hook carried by the board and adapted to engage the head block to hold the same in fixed relative position to said board.
In a device of the class described, an ironing-hoard, a ladder section hinged to one end thereof, said ladder section comprising a pair of toldable sections, and means carried by the board engaging the ladder section to limit the same in their opening niovenient.
ln testimony whereof I aflixiny signature in presence ottiwo witnesses.
