Description

tnitti tttet atmt @titte GEORGE MILLARD FILLMORE, OF SATNPAUL, MINNESOTA.
Letters Patent No. 110,348,da.ted December 20,1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN M'ILK-RECEPTACLES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it mag/.concern Be it known that I, GEORGE MrLLAuD FILLMORE, of St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Y Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Improvev g ment in Milk-Receptacles; and i do hereby declare the following to be a clearand exact description thereof sucieut to enable others skilled iu the art toimake and use the same, reference being had to the accomrvpanying drawing making part of this specification, in
which the gure shows acentral vertical section of the device illustrating my invention.
My invention relates to a new and useful receptacle for milk; and consists in arranging ou a door of a vhouse a water-tight vessel, to which access can be had by means of .an opening in the door, which opening is covered. by a slide, and through which a tube irom the vessei projects tothe outer edge of the opening, as
will' be hereinafter more fully set forth.
Referring to the drawiug- The letter A designates a metallic or other receptace, preferably of a semi-cylindrical shape, and provided with a nose and a lid or hinged cover, a., fitting snugly over the mouth or nose so as to exclude dust,
' l 8m., from the vessel.
`.in the door.
This opening is protected by a slide moving in a grooved or other suitable plate secured to the door, said slide and plate forming a lock, l).
As will be seen, this plate may be locked to prevent others than the milkman from having access to thc receptacle, and, as will further appear, the object of the invention is to do away with the trouble of arousing servants and others in the morning, or calling them away from work. And, besides, a receptacle is always ready for the milk, and in which it can be kept pure and sweet, as 'the receptacle should be removed when filled.
This device will be found very useful, as is evident, and can be produced at a comparatvel y small cost- Another important feature of my invention is providing a perforated sheet-metal, wire-gauze, or other suitable strainer, S, in the tube B of the receptacle, whereby dirt, sticks, and other foreign substances are excluded, and also any impurities in the milk.
Having thus described my invention,
lhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
v1. The milk-receptacle A, provided with a tube, B,
strainer S, suspension-plate b, and cover u, the tube B extending through an opening, O, in the door, and protected by a lock, D, substantially as described.
2. The millrcceptacle constructed as herein described, and arranged and operating substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
To the above I have signed my name this 24th day of November, A. D. 1870.
