To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MILTON RUsmNc 7001), a citizen of the United States, and a resident of East Orange, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Display-Rack for Windows, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved display rack for use in show windows and other places and arranged for convenient attachment to either side of the window casing or other fixed support, and to allow of supporting and displaying various articles of merchandise to the best advantage.
In order to accomplish the desired result use is made of a bracket arranged for attachment to a fixed support and provided with a take-up plate extending at an angle from the face of the bracket, and a supporting arm having its inner end beveled to correspond to the said angle and to abut against the face of the bracket, the said bracket and the beveled end of the said arm having interlocking means for attaching the arm to the bracket and plate to project at an angle from the face of the bracket.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figures 1 and 2 are perspective views of the bracket and the supporting arm in position when assembling the parts; Fig. 3 is a sectional plan View of a show case provided on each side of the casing with a display rack; Fig. 4 is an enlarged face View of the bracket; and Fig. 5 is an enlarged sectional side elevation of the display rack as applied.
The display rack consists essentially of a bracket A and a supporting arm B, of which the bracket A is adapted to be attached to a fixed support C, such, for instance, as the casing side of a show window D, as indicated in Fig. 8. The bracket A is provided with apertures A engaged by screws E or other fastening devices for attaching the bracket to the fixed support 0. The bracket A is provided with a plate or tongue A preferably struck up from the bracket material and outward, so as to stand at an angle to the face of the bracket. The supporting arm B is preferably tubular and each end 13 of the arm is beveled at an angle corresponding approximately to the angle at which the plate or tongue A n'ojccts from the face of the lnfackct The top of the supporting arm ii is PIOVitlOtl near each beveled end with an opening B adapted to be engaged with the hook A or A" uppermost at the time, and. the bottom of the supporting arm B is provided at each beveled end with a slot 13 into which fits the plate or tongue A. the slot l) being approximately of a length corresponding to the width of the plate or tongue A, so that when the supporting arm B is placed in position on the bracket A and its plate A then the inner beveled end B abuts against the face of the bracket A and the uppermost hook locks the supporting arm in position. It is understood that the same bracket A can be used on either side of the window casing D, and it is only necessary to use the bracket with the corresponding hook A or A upward and engaging the corresponding beveled end of the arm B with the corresponding bracket so that both supporting arms B extend at an angle in an outer direction, as will be readily understood by reference to Fig. 3.
In assembling the parts, the operator holds the supporting arm B first in a vertical position, as indicated in Fig. 3, and passes the lower end of the supporting arm over the uppermost hook of the plate A and engages the hook with the opening B", after which the arm B is swung dowinvard (see Fig. 2) so that the plate A passes into the slot B and the beveled inner end B finally abuts against the face of the bracket A to fasten the arm in place on the bracket and to support the arm from the bracket at an angle, as previously mentioned and shown in Fig. 3.
The bracket A and the arm B may be made of any suitable material such as metal, cardboard or the like.
I'Iaving thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A display rack for show windows and the like comprising a bracket arranged for attachment to a fixed support and provided with a plate extending at an angle from the face of the bracket, and a supporting arm having its inner end beveled to correspond to the angle of said plate and to abut against the face of the bracket, the said bracket and beveled end of the said arm having interlocking means for attaching the arm to the bracket and plate to hold said arm projecting at an angle from the face of the bracket.
2. A display rack for show windows and the like, comprising a flat bracket provided with a struck-up plate extending vertically and at an angle to the face of the bracket, the upper and lower ends of the plate being provided with hooks, the inner edges of which are spaced from the face of the plate, and a supporting arm having a beveled inner end and provided with an opening at the top near the beveled end for engagement by either of the said hooks, the said arm being provided at the beveled end with a slot in register with the said opening and engaged by the said plate.
3. A display rack for show windows and the like, comprising a bracket adapted to be fastened to a fixed support and having a struck-up plate extending at an angle to the face of the bracket and provided at its upper end with a hook, and a tubular supporting arm having a beveled end face and provided at the top near the said beveled end with an opening engaged by the said hook, the said arm being provided at its bottom with. a slot disposed opposite the said opening and engaged by the plate.
4:. A display rack for show Windows and the like, comprising a bracket provided with a struck-up plate extending at an angle to the face of the bracket, the plate being provided at both ends with hooks, and a tubular supporting arm having beveled ends each provided With an opening and a slot in register with the opening, the opening being engaged by one of the hooks and the slot being engaged by the plate.
