To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PETER THOMAS STEW- ART, a subject of the King of Great Britain, resident of the village of Ripley, county of Bruce, Province of Ontario, in the Dominion of Canada, farmer, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Supports, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to improvements in bag supporters and the objects of the invention are to facilitate the filling of grain bags, to lessen the expense of labor employed for such purposes and to provide a simple and easily operated device for the said purpose and it consists essentially of vertical wires joined at the top by cross wires, said vertical wires preferably forming part of a loop, the particular construction being set forth in detail hereinafter and shown in the accompanying drawings.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device inserted in the bag. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the device apart from the bag.

Like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.

Referring to the drawings, 1 are the vertical lengths of a wire loop joined at the bottom by the cross wire 2, said cross wire having the kink 3 in the center thereof.

4 is a cross wire at the top having a central kink 5 and the upwardly offset ends 6, said ends, preferably, being pointed. The cross wire 4: joins the upper ends of the vertical lengths 1.

7 are the vertical lengths of a wire loop joined at the bottom by the cross wire 8, said cross wire 8 having a kink 9 corresponding to the kink 3 and registering therewith, said cross wire 8 crossing the cross wire 2 at right angles or thereabout'.

10 is a cross wire having the central kink 11 registering with the kink 5 and the upwardly offset pointed ends 12,'said wire 10 joining the upper ends of the wires 7.

In the use of this device the wire loops are inserted in the bag and the top of the bag drawn up and caught on to the pointed ends of the top cross wires, thus the bag is held open and stands by the aid of said loops ready to fill with grain. When the bag is filled the loops are drawn out through the ,grain and the bag fastened as usual.

It has been known to hold the mouths of bags open with hoop devices particularly in picking cotton, but for grain the operation is quite different and requires another device. The bag is raised slightly from the floor in filling it with grain and then dropped, such treatment has no effect on the device herein described.

The hoop devices are satisfactory for cotton picking because the operations are comparatively slow, but in handling grain every action is quick, therefore the wires must be removed with speed and this can readily be done by springing the vertical wires toward one another on the cross wires and pulling the whole contrivance out, this gets most of the supporter away from the side of the bag, which is impossible in hoop devices.

What I claim is 7 1. In a bag support, a pair of loops formed of vertical and horizontal sections the latter being crossed, and separate crossed wires connected with the tops of the vertical lengths.

2. A bag support comprising crossed wires at the bottom and crossed wires at the top and vertical joining the ends of said crossed wires each of said top crossed wires having upwardly offset pointed ends.
