Hangers, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to shade and ourt ain hangers for windows and its' object resides in the provision of a simple device which is constructed tobe secured'to the upright members of a window casing by clamping engagement with the edges thereof and which when applied in a pair at the upper end of the casing is capable of supporting both a curtain pole and a shade roller in their proper positions with'relation to the window. a

With the above object in view my invention comprises a clamping element which is adjustable'to adapt it for use on window casings of different widths and a reversible bracket which is constructed to support the ends of the shade roller and a curtain pole at either side of the window and which is adjustably connected with the clamping element to allow regulation of the distance between the two brackets of a pair of the devices after they have been applied to the casing, to correspond with the width of the shade and the curtain to be suspended therefrom. ers comprised in the pair is composed of a clamping element'and a therewith adjustably connected bracket element from which the curtain pole and the shade roller are suspended, and bothlhangers of the pair are of similar construction with the exception that in one, theposition of the bracket on the clamping element is reversed with relation to the relative positions of the corresponding parts on the other.

The clamping element consists of two members 5 and 6 which are composed of plates of equal and uniform width and which at one of their ends are bent at right- -angles to provide the jaws 7 and 8 which by engagement with the edges of the upright members of the window casing, secure the hangers thereto. The jaw? on the memher 6 has a pair of inturned prongs 9 which enter into the wood at the edge of the easingto more firmly securethe hanger thereto, and the jaw 8 of the member 5 is provided with a threaded aperture for the reception of a set-screw 10 which engages the upright member A at its opposite edge. The two members of the clamp are adjustable to any one of a number of positions to adapt it for use on casings of different widths and with this end in view, the member 6 is provided with-a number of longitudinal slots 11 of equal length and the other member 5 has at its end, opposite to the jaw 8, a transverse bar 12 which is integrally connected therewith by means of a short, centrally disposed neck 13. When. the members of the clamp are in their cooperative positions, the plates of which they are composed overlap one another in longi tudinalalinementand the neck 13 at the end ofthe one extends loosely through one of the slots 11 in the other.
