Description

J. S. PARRISH.
ICE CREAM FREEZER FRAME LOCK.
APPLIOATION FILED MAR. 20, 1912 Patented N014, 1913.
UMTETE @TATiEd FAYENT @FFEQE JAMES SCOTT PARRISH, OF RICHMOND, VIRGINIA, ASSIGNOB T0 RICHMOND CEDAR WORKS, A. CORPORATION 6F VIRGINIA.
IGE-CREAlllI-FREEZER-FRAIEE LOCK.
Original application filed December 21, 1910, Serial No. 598,573.
To all LU]L0.'?'L- it may concern Be it known that I, JAMES Soo'rr lmuusn, a citizen of the United States and resident of Richmond, county of Hence, State of Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lce-Cream-Freezcr Frame Locks, of which the following is a full and clear specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l .is a perspective view of an ice cream freezer provided with my frame loclz; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the locking device; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the lock plate.
The object of this invention is to provide a simple and durable device for detachably locking down on the rim of the tub the free end of the gear-in H116, and the invention consists of certain novel features of construction hereinafter described and claimed.
This application is a division of the application which eventuated in my former Patent No. 1,022,752, dated April 9, 1912.
In the drawing, a designates the two parallel bars of the gearing frame, set vertically edge-wise and connected together at the outer end by an integral connection 7), the inner end of the frame being hinged to the tub in any suitable manner. I prefer employing the construction of frame covered by patent to Rolhnan, No. 1,0112%, dated December 12, 1911. in which the frame at the hinge end fits bodily down in a single wide notch in the tub rim while the two bars at the outer end of the frame fit down into vertical notches in the tub f, the stave between the notches being left intact to form a tongue 71 which when the frame is in place fits up between the frame bars. The notches in the tub rim are sufiiciently deep to bring the frame down approximately flush with the upper face of the tub rim.
F astened upon the outer face of the tub is a metal plate 9 whose upper edge is flush with the rim of the tub and is provided with notches 0r slots f coincident with the notches f in the tub rim, the metal between these notches being left intact to form a tongue it Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. a, 1913. Divided and this application filed. March Serial No. 885,031.
which lies against and braces the spacing block or tongue It. The locking plate is provided with an outwardly extending lug n. This plate 9 is fastened rigidly to the tub by means of suitable screws, and pivoted to the plate at Z is a lever m provided with a. curved hook j which when the lever m is pressed downwardly is forced into a hole '11 formed in the adjacent side of one of the ars a, at a point outside of the freezer tub. By means of this lever the end of the frame may be locked down in the notches, the lower edges of the frame bars a being held down rigidly against the bottoms of the notches f. in this Way a Very rigid and durable connection is made, the engagement of the frame bars with the notches f and f together with the spacing and bracing members 72, it making a very rigid and solid union of the tub and the frame, whereby the frame is adapted to resist the maximum of rough usage not only during shipping but also during use of the freezer.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is-
In an ice cream freezer, a tub having notches formed in its rim at diametrically opposite points. the notches at one side consisting of a pair of separated notches having an upstanding part it of the tub rim lying between them, a gearing frame set down in said notches, this frame at one end consisting of separated bars which fit down in said separated notches, a lock plate fastened to the exterior of the tub extending to the upper edge of the rim thereof, said lock plate being proided with a pair of separated notches coincident with the separated notches in the tub rim, these notches in the plate forming an upstanding tongue ]L which abuts against the outer face of the aforesaid part h of the tub rim.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
