SASH-HOLDl ZR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 319,275, dated June 2.v 1835- Application filed March 25, 1885. (ModeL) T0 (ZZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GRIs LEE, of Paducah, in the county of McOracken and State of Kentucky, have invented a new and Improved Sash Holder and Look, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved device for holding a sash at any desired elevation, or looking it to prevent its being raised. 7
The invention consists in the combination, with a casing, of a bolt in the same, a spindle in the casing, and an eccentric plug on the spindle for operating the bolt.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similarletters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a face view of myimproved sash holder and lock. Fig. 2 is a side View of the same. Fig. 3 is a sectional plan View of the same. Fig. 4 is aview of the inner side, the parts being detached.
On a plate, A, acircular cap or casing, B, is formed, and in the top of the same a spindle, C, is journaled, which is bent at its top to form a handle, D.
The lower end of the spindle is passed into an aperture, E, in a plate, F, placed into arecess or cavity, G, in the under side of the plate A, the under side of the plate A and of the plate F being flush.
A sliding bolt, G, is arranged in the casing B, and has a circular aperture, which receives a plug, H, mounted eccentrically on the spindle O. The outer end of the bolt G is rounded, as shown.
The plate A is held by screws on the stopbead L in such a manner that the rounded end of the bolt faces the inner surface of the side rail, J, of the sash K.
When the handle Dhangs down, the bolt G is withdrawn, and the sash can be moved up and down.
When the sash is to be locked in position, the handle D is swung up and from the sash, whereby the bolt G is forced against the side rail of the sash and binds on the same, thus locking the sash in place.
The sash-fastener can be fastened to the sash as well as to the casing.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination, with the plate A, having a recess, G, in its underside, and provided with a casing, B, of the plate F, placed in the recess, the spindle O,journa1ed in the top of the casing and in the plate F, and having a handle, D, the eccentric plug H on the spindle, and the bolt G, provided with an aperture for receiving the plug H, substantially as herein shown and described.
P. D. YEISER.
