IMPRQVEMENT 1N cAsTERs.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH KIN'rz, of West Meriden, in the county of New Haven and vState of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Casters; and I do hereby declare i-hat'the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, whichwill enable others skilled in the art to make.

This invention relatesto improvements in the method of attaching casters to furniture-legs,and consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as here.- inafter set forth. Y i

Figure l of drawing is an elevation of a part of a furniture-leg and a caster-wheel, the lat-ter being partly in section.

- Figure 2 is a sectional elevation of a -furniture-leg, with a caster-wheel attachdaccording to my invention.

A indicates a Wooden furniture-leg, and

B a spindle, in whose bifurcated end the wheel C is pivoted. l

vIt is highly desirable to holdthis'spindle in the leg,

so that, while it can turn freely, it will have but little lateral play, and will not wear the wall of the hole in which it is fitted. It is also important to attach it so that it will not drop out when the leg is raised. For

so that, after heilig thus arranged, it cannot drop ont.

This bush is then let into av socket, previously formed in the end of the wooden leg for it, andl it has f a broad disk or flange, F, iitting in a recess provided for it.

The bush is *then secured, by. a screw-threaded cap,

G, screwed on the end of the leg. The rim of the wheel is shown, in lig. 1,'as being covered with sheet metal.

I do not claim, broadly, a screw-cap, constructed 'and applied to a furniture-leg, as described; vbut Having t-liu's described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure. by Letters Patent- -The combination, with a furniture-leg,A, of abush or pintle-socket, D, provided with a liange, F, and the screw-cap Gr, all constructed and arranged as shown and described.
