I, JOHN A. EBERLY, of Reamstowlnin the county of Lancaster and State ot'` Pennsylvania, have iu, vented certain Improvements iu the Combined 'Arrangement on liIea-tychoppingfMachines, of which the following is a specification.

The nature of my inventionconsists in mounting the block, vwitl1 its, 1ack and case, upon a pivot, on which it revolves, and from which it can be removed 'tbremptyingor cleaning out, and which is also pro vided with a lid, united to side arms, so as to iit't off au'd 'uncover the case, when the levers, with their el1oppe1.'s,vare turned back on a. common center, and removed out ot' the way, together with the arrangement ot' the springs and point for operating the. levers. y

The accompanying drawing illustrates the arrangement of the parts', iu wbich- Figure l is a perspective view Of/ my machine, with only two choppers shown'. Four or more'may be applied in like manner. They are represented turned' hack, with the lid-supports, thc spring and lever-rods heilig tirstdetached;v

Figure 2 is a side elevation, further to illustrate the same, with the choppers resting on the block, and the spring-rods connected to the levers. Y

A brief explanation will enable any one skilled iu the art to make anduse the same.

A is a metallic. ring or case, fitted over a round block, in the ordinary manner.-

The click-rod T is shown by dot-ted lilies on tig. 2.

which actuates it, so as to turn thc block when iu motion. y

This block sets and revolves o n a pivot, centrally athxed to the bed o r base B, from :which it can be easily removed for cleaning;

This base or table 13 has two uprights, C E, united by a cross-pieee, D, which-constitute the bearings on each side for the shafts and gear.

G is a eogged wheel on the shaft that carries th litters I t, two, four, or more, side by side alternating, so that veach revolution lifts the choppers about six H is a crank-handle for turning the said shaft.

The levers L are eachprovided with a chopper, N, held by a pairof jam-nuts above, to the stems u, and said stems are secured firmly to the choppers or cutting-blades N.

The lever-arms L have a rouudedtooth,1, which comes in contact with the lifters 1'-, as shown, to raise the lever. These levers, two, four, or more, arejall held in a longitudinal bolt, e, through the uprightE, on which they turn as a fulcrum. g

In like' manner a side a-rm, M, is held, to .vlicli the slottediid Q is attached, so as 'to'turn back with the chopper-levers, and carrying the lid along, as shown by Iig. l.

The -upright C is slotted, forming. guides for thc Chopper-levers above.

These levers have also an eyed curing-bolt, af, to which the rodlt is affixed by simply hooking in, being connected permanently,by .an eyed ring to ithc- 'spl'ing S below.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by .Letters Patent, is-

The arrangementand con'ibination of the horizontal-springs S, colniecting-rods 1t for hooking onto the chopper-levers L, lin combination with arms M, lid 0, aud revolving removable block and case A, operated substantially inthe manner and for the purpose specilicd.
