Design No. 4,220, dated July 12, 1870.
DESIGN FOR FRAMES FOR MOWING-MACHINES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLLIH G. KENYON, of IVakefield, in the county of Washington and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new Design for Mowiug-machine Frames; and do hereby declare the following to be a full and correct description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making part of this specification, and to the letters and numbers of reference marked thereon, similar letters and numbers being used in all the figures to denote the same part.
In these drawingL Figure 1 is a top view.
Figure 2 is au end View, taken fi'om the end marked a: in iig. 1.
My design is for a frame for a mowing-machine, that shall have a simple and pleasing appearance, and at the same time have all its parts easy of access, and be especially adapted to the arrangement of gearing, 85e., in my mower, patented October l2, 1869.
In g. 1, the dotted lines (t a represent the axle, or main shaft.
d d, the bearings.
The dotted lines t trepresent the countenshaft, and Z lits bearings, the curve p in the back ofthe frame being made to accommodate a gear-wheel on this shaft.
A is the main part of the frame, which is intended to be made of iron, as is also the platl'orni or auxiliary trame B, to which the pole is attached, shown by the dotted lilies s s.
Ihc frame B is about a quarter segment of a circle, surrounded on all sides on top by a raised bead, and it has a tool-box, o, and socket j, for an oil-cup, made in it, the rest of its surface heilig east iu open diamond o1' lattice-work. It is secured to the axle by the arms c e.
C, g. 2, is the lower part 0f the frame, intended to support the cutting apparatus, the dotted lines e `v showing the position of the slice that holds the lingerbar.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim isrIhe configuration of the design for a mowing-niac-liine frame, as shown in the drawings and herein described.
W'M. G. KENYON.
