Letters Patent No. 107,025, dated September 6,1870.

IMPROVEMENT IN CORNER-SUPPORT FOR CARRIAGE-BOXES AND SEATS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of thesaxne.-

. with folded edges, screws, straps, and grooves, in Such a manner that the same shall form -a support for the corners of carriage-boxes and seats when applied thereto, the object of my invention heilig to form a firm support for the corners* of carriage-boxes and seats, and all other boxes and frames having` corners,

however thin and yielding the material of which the same is constructed may be.

1 will now proceed to describe my invention so that those skilled in the art may be enabled to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figa-re 1 is a perspective viewof my invention.

Figure 2 is a sectional'view of my invention, showing the box or seat as prepared to receive the strap which is attached thereto.`

Figure 3 is a view of the strap lised by lne as a part of my invention.

Figure 4 is a sectional view of the said invention, with the strap aforesaid applied thereto.

Figure 5 is a sectional view oi' my invention, showing the manner ofputting the same together.

a b are the sides of a box or seat, respectively.

c is the band or strap.

d are the folded corners thereof.

e is the strap or plate, which is attached to the sides b by screws at the place indicated by the letter g ill j' is a groove cnt in the sides a- I1, over which partially laps the strap or plate e.

g is a slight cnt in the sides b, just su'cent to receive the straps or plate e.

h are screws to hold the plate e to its place.

After the groove f and the cut 'g are madein the sides a or b, as shown in fig. 2, and the strap or plate e is attached thereto by means of the vscrews aforesaid,

in such a manner as to partially overlap the groove f,-

as shown in iig. 4, the band c is applied' by sliding the outer edges of the said platee within the folding corners of said band c, and driving the same down, as shown in tiff. 5, until it assumes the position shown in lig. 1, whereby, as will be observed, a good, reliable support is formed t-o the corner of any structuret-o which it may be attached, and may be applied to any carriage-box or seat, or to any other box with corners,

'screws h, the strap or plate e, the folded 'corners d of the band c, with said band c and the corners of' carriage-boxes' and seats, and all other boxes and structures having corners, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
