IMPROVEMENT 1N HINGns.
The Schedule referred to in theseV Letters Patent and making part of the lame,
Be it known that I, JOHN DAVID Bnownnr of Madisonville, in the county of Hztmilton and State of,
Ohio, have invented a. new and useful Improvement in Tight and Loose-joint ReversibleHinges, of which the following is n. specification.
The nntnre of the invention consists in making th'e hinge, which is in two pieces, with the pintle'knuckle' having a, bearing set centrally with its plete, and a slotted socket knuckle reversible. 4

A is one plate of hinge, having the knuckle a set centrally, to be used right or left, provided with the bearing-b.
Above the-beaming b nu opening, c, is made in the plate A, of su'eient size to admit the socket-knuckle d on platte B, to poss through and work freely.
B is the other pla-te of hinge, having n hollow or socket-knuckle, d, to fit on knuckle b of plete A.
The socketd is provided with n. slot, e, of sufcient width to pass over the thickness of plate A, and enter the Opening c in plate A, and rest on the 'hearingvbVso that it can be lifted `oli and on when the slot is in line with the plate,fand, by. reversing the part, can be used for either the right or left side? I am aware that hinges have' been made to be used ns tight and loose--.joints, and also, that reversible Witnesses:
