This invention consists vin the arrangement of' a strengthening piece across the knee-parts 'of pantaloons, said. strengtheningpieee being fastened on the seams, and heilig made, by preference, somewhat narrower than that part ot' the pantnloous to which it is ettached, in such a manner that the strain exerted by the knees on the pantaloons, particularly if suchv pantaloons are worn by persons ot' a sedentary occupation, is intercepted by the strengthening piece, andthe knee-part .t'ithe pantaloons is prevented from stretching and from bagging ont.
In the drawing-- The letteil A designates a pair of pantaloons, the ltnee-parts of which are protected on the inside by the strengthening pieces a. These pieces are, by preference, made oi' e stiii` "fabric,` end they are fastened at their upright edges tothe side seams offthe pauta loons, the horizontal edges ofsaid strengthening pieces being left free and detached. l
Said strengthening pieces are made, by. preference, somewhat narrower than that part of the pantaloens over which they entend, so as to leave n, crescent shaped space, b, (see fig. 3.)
By these means, they fabric fi'oin which the pauta loons are made is relieved fromythestrein exerted thereon by the knees of the person weringwsaid pantaloons, particularly in sitting down, and-5, while the knee of ordinary pnntaloons isliable to "stretch and bag out, thereby marring the shape ofthe article', my pautaioonsretain their original shape for a long time.
I :un aware that it is not new to place on puntaloon lknees pieces of rubber or other elastic mate-rial', to
