IMPROVEMENT IN BELT-BUCKLES.
Specification forming'part ot' Letters Patent No. 104,683, dated June 28, 1870.
the working parts of said buckle and ends of` the belt; and consists ofcertain details of construction hereinafter described.
The object of my invention is to produce a buckle that will Work in a satisfactory manner, and combine elegance of appearance with simplicity of construction.
To enable others skilled in the art or science to which it most nearly appertains to make and use my invention, I will proceed to fully describe its construction and operation.
In the drawing, Figure l is an elevation of a belt-buckle embodying my improvement. Fig. 2 is an elevation of the shield A. Fig. 3 isa longitudinal section of shield A, showing the rib or plate to which the working parts are hinged by means vof the rod B. Fig. 4 is the rim-piece D, to which the fast end of the belt is secured, forming one piece with the prongs that secure the adjustable or loose end of the belt. Fig. 5 is the rim-piece C, against which the loose end of the belt is secured by the prongs or points shown in Fig. 4.
When in use one end of the belt is secured iirmly to the rim D, and the other end, after passing around the Wearers Waist, is thrust around the rim C, and out between that rim and the plate A, and is prevented from slipping back by the prongs that form a part of the rim-piece D.
