HAT-BRUSH HOLDER.

Z 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GUsTAvUs A. FRED- RICKSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Spokane, in the county of Spokane and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hat-Brush Holders, and do hereby declare' the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invent-ion relates to hat brush holders and it consists in the novel construction hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of the application :Figure 1 is a view of the device in position in the crown of a hat. Fig. 2 is a plan view showing the device ready to be placed in a hat. Fig. 8 is an edge View of the device shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a side View of the brush. Fig. 5 is a plan view of the brush.
In carrying out my invention, I place within the crown of an ordinary hat a plate 10 of metal or other suitable material, formed as shown in Fig. 2, in which it appears as a strip having widened end portions 11 and 12 adapted to rest within the usual band 13 of the hat. The holder proper extends from the band on one side of the hat under the crown and preferably in contact therewith to the band on the opposite sideas shown in Fig. 1.
The brush 14 is provided with a slot 15 in one end as shown in Fig. 4. Plate 10 carries lugs 17 and 18, the former accommodating slot 15 in one end of the brush, and the latter aiding in retaining the opposite end.

A tongue 19 of resilient material has its free end 20 disposed opposite lug 1S and a short distance therefrom in order that the end 21 of the brush may rest between the end of said tongue 20 and member 18 formed with ears 22, which ears serve to retain end 21 of the brush from sidewise movement.
It will be understood that plate 10 is placed within the crown of the hat and permanently retained therein and that the brush is carried by the devices on plate 10 above described, and when it is desired to use the brush it is readily removed by pressing tongue 19 in such manner as to free end 21 of the brush, when the latter may readily be removed.
lVhat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In a brush holder, a plate arranged to be carried within the crown of a hat, a lug projecting from the plate, a brush provided at one end with a recess for engaging the lug, a tongue of resilient material projecting from the plate and spaced from the lug first mentioned, said tongue being arranged to engage the other end of thebrush and a second lug adjacent the tongue and cooperating therewith for engaging the end of the brush adjacent the tongue.
