UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ABRAHAM P. LUBELL, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BOYS BLOUSE.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ABRAHAM P. LUBELL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing in New York, in the borough of Manhattan, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boys Blouses, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved boys blouse whereby the same can be conveniently adjusted at the lower end for the size of the waist of the boy and adjusted by the shirring-tape the outermost end of which is then inserted and retained in a supplementary pocket so as to be out of the way while the blouse is worn; and for this purpose the object of the invention is to provide a boys blouse, the lower part of which is provided with a hemmed edge and a shirring string or tape in said hem, and means for tying and storing the tape in a suitable pocket after the shirring tape is tied, as will be fully described hereinafter and finally pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a front-view of my improved boys blouse, showing the lower front-corner turned up for showing the adjustment of the end of the shining-string or tape, in a pocket formed thereon, Fig. 2 is a horizontal section on line 22, Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a detail view taken from the inside of the lower front-corner of the blouse and showing the connection of the loose end of the shirring tape with the anchoring button and its storage in the pocket on the front corner, of the blouse.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several figures of the drawings.
Referring to the drawings, a represents a boys blouse which is provided with front buttons for being opened or closed in the usual manner. It is provided at its lower edge with a narrow hem b for the shirring string or tape (Z. The shirring string or tape (Z is attached to one front-corner of the blouse, as shown in Fig. 1, and conducted in the hem 7), arranged at the lower end of the blouse, to the opposite front-corner where it is passed freely to the outside without being attached to the blouse until it is used. At the underlapping corner opposite the front-corner, a flap e is arranged which Specification of Letters Patent.

is preferably. made somewhat wider than the hem and open at its upper edge, as shown in Fig. 3, through which the free outer-end shirring string or tape (Z is passed to the outside. In the pocket formed by the flap 6 is arranged a button (2' which serves for attaching or anchoring the shiningstring or tape preferably by means of a loop (1 which is formed in the outer end of the tape after the lower end of the blouse has been adjusted to the size of the boys waist. The loop (Z itself is formed in the shirringstring or tape (l by the attendant before the blouse is put on the boys body for use and serves for keeping the blouse tightly around the waist of the boy until it is desired either to contract or enlarge the lower part of the blouse when the loop is untied and a new loop formed. In the flap 6 is formed a button-hole e which is placed over the button 0 after the looped end of the shirring-string is placed thereon after which the outer end of the tape is inserted into and stored away in the pocket formed by the flap 0, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 3. stitched at its lower edge and at the ends to the inside of the front-corner of the blouse, as indicated in Fig. 3. The button serves for securing, holding or anchoring the shining-string while the pocket formed by the flap serves for taking up the outermost end of the shirring-string or tape beyond the loop so as to prevent it from dangling around at the lower front-part of the blouse.
By the arrangement described, the boys blouse can be adjusted by the shirring-string or tape to the exact size of the waist. The shirring-string can be readily detached from the anchoring button when the blouse is to be taken off the body, while when the blouse is applied to the body, the shirring-string is stored away in the pocket formed by the flap in a neat and convenient manner.
I claim:
In a boys blouse, the combination of a hem at the lower edge of the blouse, a shirring string or tape in said hem attached to one of the front corners of the blouse, an anchoring button applied to the other of the front corners of the blouse, and a loop formed in the out-going end of the shirring string or tape and adapted to be placed over the anchoring button, with a flap at The flap is' the button end of the blouse having a but- In testimony, that I claim the foregoing ton hole for the button, and inclosing the as my invention, I have signed my name in 100p and forming a pocket With the blouse presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
