In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a package with a confining cord thereon held by a device embodying the present improvements. The securing device of the present invention bent up from single piece of wire tle two ends being of similar conformation but reversed with relation to each other while the central part of the wire forms a hook in which a night of the cord drawn taut before being secured.

The cord is next passed around the package the other way and the end drawn tightly into the other holding slot as shown clearly in Fig. 1.

As shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing the cord is passed around the package in one direction only but a doubled loop of. cord is used. To apply the cord in this use of the device, one end of the cord is secured and the cord passed around the package as before and drawn tight, then the free' end is brought back in the same direction and secured in the other slotof the fastener. If desired to lock the cord with greater security the free ends may be doubled back and drawn down into the slots as shown in Fig. 2, when .it will be found that the slight enlargement due to the bending of the cord shown at J will afford greatly increased resistance to any slipping of the cord.

1. A securing dcvice for package confining cords embodying a single lengtho-f wire having a central bend for a bight of the cord, the ends of the wire diverging at an acute angle whereby either will form the end of a hook and the other the shank, each end being bent back 'on itself to form a cord pinching and holding slot. and beyond said slot diverging from the body of the wire to form guides for the cord the extremities of both ends being brought into proximity to the ends of the slots to form oppositely extending handles by which the device may be held in fastening a package,' the said slots for the ends of the cord being arranged to lie in substantially the same plum. \vlnri'chy the cnds of thc curd will hath he held. in a plane parallel with the. surface of the package.
