The practical application of this device to the trough.

is shown in fig. 1, iu -which it will be seen that the in'- ner side of the trough is held by and between the lirnbs D 'Ot' the bar and shoulder of the brace, at the base of the point l), which penetrates the side of the trough and enters the slotted hole afand therein retained by the opposite end being braced against the inside ofthe trough, as seen at G, iig. 1, thereby preventing the sides of the trough from lateral compression, while the bar' prevents' it from lateral expan sion.` The brace and bar thus arranged and attached to the trough are locked together by the key c, as shownin the drawing, thereby making the att-ach'- ment of the trough to the hanger andto the building neat, strong, and durable, convenient, and easy i n its adjustment, and simple to manipulate.
