Description

F. RAHTE. EAvEs-.TROUGH HANGER.
No.187,671`. Patented Feb.zo,1e77.
WITN ESSES N PETERS, PHUTO-LITHOGRAPHER. WASHINGT 'Uitrrnn STATES.
PATENT Omron FRANK RAHTE, OF FOND DU LAG, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEMENT IN EAVES-TROUGH HANGERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 187,67 E, dated February 20, 1877; application filed August 25, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK RAHTE, of Fond ,du Lac, in the county of Fond du Lac and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Eaves-Trough Hangers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to letters of re erence marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, and in which- Figure'l is a side elevation, and Fig. 2 a plan view, of my improved eaves trough hanger.
Corresponding parts in the two figures are designated by like letters.
rIhis invention relates to a certain improvement in eaves-trough hangers; and it consists of'a strap of metal curved so as to underlap the beaded or curved portion ofthe trough, thence sprung around and across the same, and again curved, so as to overlap the said bead of trough. substantially as hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the annexed drawing, A refers to the hanger, preferably made of spring metal, and having the free end ofits bowed portion provided with a hook or curve, a, and its straight or horizontal, portion curved or hooked, as at a1. The hanger A is secured to the eaves of the structure or building by means of the oblique bar or strap a2, it being punctured to receive fastenings. The hanger is adjusted to the eaves-trough B, having a curvature or tube,
4 b, as follows: The hook or curve a is inserted I into the curvature or tube b of the trough B, with the convexity of the bowed portion thereof upward, which latter-named portion is then sprung around the convexity of the trough, and the straight portion of the hanger down upon or across the trough, and its hook al over the curvature or tube b of the trough. Now move the hanger upon the trough over the brace b', Where the trough is unyielding/A and more or less distended, and it will be iirmly retained or secured in place thereon.
This forms anextreniely simple, cheap, and secure means for attacl'iingand suspending eavesftroughs from buildings. It isparticularly marked for its simplicity and security, it being lnade (the hanger proper) in one piece, and sprung upon and interlocking with the trough.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire' to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The eaves-trough hanger consisting of the strap of metal A, curved so as to underlapthe beaded or curved portion of the trough, thence sprung around and across the saine, and-again curved so as to overlap the said beaded portion of trough, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as i' my own I hereunto affix my signature in presence ot' two witnesses.
FRANK RAHTE.
