This invention relates to a class of devices .or holders adapted more particularly for detachably holding a cover upon ironing boards. l V

My invention has for its object primarily to provide an eiicient and inexpensive device or holder designed for use in conjunction with the usual or any preferred forni of ironing board whereby a cover may be held thereon and which will permit the cover to be readily applied to the ironing boa-rd or conveniently detached therefrom as occasion requires, thus dispensing With the necessity of serving a cover to the ironing board.

Another objectof the invention is to pro- .vide a holder which is fastened. upon the underside of an ironing board,'and Wherein a plurality of elements or catches are employed for gripping the cover linderneat-h the board after being properly stretched upon the top surface thereof and which are adaptedto yieldingly hold the cover in a manner to prevent it from wrinkling or slipping on the hoard.

The invention furthermore consists in the combination of new and novel parts as hereinafter described and more' particularly pointed out in the claims at the end of the description and illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification in which similar characters of reference. indicate corresponding parts.

The device or holder 10 may be employed with the usual or any preferred form of ironing board 11. The holder 10 has a base-plate 12 which may be fastened in any suitable manner upon substantially the center of one surface of the ironing board and said base-plate is preferably of a form havingt-wo opposed straight edges 13 and 14, and taperedy or pointed ends 15 and 16. Substantially centrally of the hase-plate 12 is provided a plurality of projecting pins or screws 17ivhich are darranged at spaced intervals lengthwise of said plate, and each of `said pins or/screvvs 17, has a head 18 upon the free end thereof. I preferably employ six of the pins or screws 17, though any numberof said pins may be used, and upon each of the pins 17 is movably held one or a plurality of yielding gripping elements or catches 19 by which the cover20 of the ironing board is detachably held thereon.

Each of the yielding gripping elements or catches 19 is composed of a spring Orre.- silient member 21 having an arm 21EL at one of its ends upon which is formed an eye or opening 22 through which is passed the projecting part of one of the pins 17, and at the opposite end of ,each of said springs is an eye o1' opening 23. vHeld in the eye or opening 23 of each of the springs 21 is an eye or opening 2-1 formed upon one end of a rod 25, and upon thc opposite end of each of said rods is provided 'a hook 26 having a sharpzg-ned or tapered free end. Upon each of the pins `17 of the plate 12 are held the eyes 22 of two of the springs or resilient members 21 so that said members may be guided in opposite directions for the hooks 26 ot' thc rods thereof to grip and hold the cover 20 at the opposed side edges of the ironing hoard 11. ln order to properly hold the ends of the cover 20 after being overlapped on the underside ot' the ironing hoard` upon each ot' the end pins 17 is movably held a third yielding gripping clement or catch 27. Each of the yielding gripping elements or catches 27 comprises a spring or resilient member 2S having at one of its ends an eye or opening 30 through which is guided the 'projecting part' of the pin 17.
