To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANCIS A. EMBL-ING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Carlin, in the county of Elko and State of Nevada, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bottle Attachments, of which the following is a specification. j

The present invention relates to an im-. provement in bottles, and especially to closures therefor, and the invention resides in the novel construction of a closure which is provided with a revoluble brush member constructed of suitable porous material, such as a sponge, and whereby the contents of the bottle will be forced to flow through the sponge before being delivered from the bottle.

The object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is extremely simple in construction, cheap to manufacture and which will perform the functions for which it is intended with efliciency and accuracy.

With the above, and other objects in View, which will be more apparent as the description progresses, the invention resides in the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings there has been illustrated a simple and preferred embodiment of the improvement, and in which drawings,

In the accompanying drawings the numeral 1 designates the neck of any OIdi-r nary bottle, the same being preferably provided with an offset shoulder 2 at its point of connection with the body of the bottle.

The numeral 3 designates the bottle attachinent. This attachment 3 comprises a collar 4 constructed of cork, rubber or other partially yieldable substance so as to tightly fit within the neck 1 of the bottle to have its lower portions rest upon the shoulder 2. The collar 4, as best illustrated in Fig. 4 of the drawings, is of a circular cross sectional formation, and has its central portion provided with an elongated opening 5, the walls between the top and bottom of said elongated opening 5 being concaved as designated by the numeral 6, the purpose of which will hereinafter be more fully set forth.

The collar 4 is adapted to project a suitable distance above the top of the bottle neck 1, andthis projecting portion is provided with a shaft 7 mounted within suitable openings providedin the said collar and the shaft has one of its ends provided with a finger hold or enlargement 8, whereby the same may be readily rotated. The body of the shaft 7 between the Walls of the elongated opening 5 of the collar is provided with a plurality of fingers or serrations 9 the same being adapted to serve as securing means for the dauber proper, which is designated by the numeral 10. ,The dauber 10 is constructed of some suitable compressible material such as a sponge, cotton batting, cotton waste or the like, and is originally of a spherical shape. The dauberis adapted to fit over the dauber l0 and the projecting portion of the collar 4. This cap has the walls adjacent its open end provided with a vertical slit 12, whereby the same may be slid over the projecting portion of the shaft 7 when the said collar is in position.

It is to be understood that the shaft 7 not only supports the dauber 10, but is also provided for rotating the dauber when the said shaft is revolved. As heretofore stated the dauber is of expansible material, and it will be noted that when the dauber is revolved with the shaft the edges of the collar 4 at the upper face portion provided with the opening 5 will serve as a scraper member for wiping the dauber, so that the outer face of the same when arranged within the opening will be free from grit or hardened- Having thus described the invention, What I claim as new is z 1. An attachment for bottle necks comprising a partially yieldable collar Which is adapted to project beyond the end of the bottle, a shaft Within this projecting portion, and a dauber connected With the shaft.

2. An attachment for bottle necks comprising a partially yieldable collar adapted to be positioned partly Within the neck, a shaft upon the projecting portion of the collar, a handle for the shaft, teeth upon the shaft, and a compressible dauber upon the axle secured by the teeth thereof.

3. An attachment for bottle necks, said attachment having a yieldable collar, said collar having an elliptical opening, a shaft mounted for rotation Within the upper portion of the collar, teeth upon the shaft between the opening of the collar, and a dauber member constructed of soft yieldable material positioned upon the shaft and having a portion projecting above the opening of the collar.
