Be it known that I, J OHN R. Hoon, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Garment Forms, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to garment forms and more particularly bust-forms of the kind adapted to be mounted on the T-stands used in dry goods and other stores for displaying garments and other goods.

The object of my invention'is the provision of an inexpensive garment form of this character which is firmly held against rocking, tilting or other displacement on the T stand when in use and which can at the same time be readily applied to and removed from the stand.

In the accompanying drawings consisting of 2 sheets: Figure 1 is a front elevation of a bust form embodying the invention and mounted on an ordinary T-stand. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on line 3-3, Fig. 1. Fig. 11$ a side elevation of the bust formmounted on a Tstand, showing a modified construction of the holding clasps.

Similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.

The display stand shown in the drawings is of the conventional construction and comprises the hollow post or upright 1 secured to the base 2, and the adjustable rod 3 telescoped into'said post and carrying the cross bar 4 at its upper end.

The bust form may be constructed of any suitable material but is preferably made of wire, as shown. In the particular form illustrated in the drawings it comprises upper and lower rings 5 connected by upright rods 6 and constituting the neck portion of the form; horizontal rings or elliptical members 7, 8 and 9, upright front and rear members 10 extending from the lower neck ring 5 to the lowermost ring 9,-shoulder members '11 extending from said neck ring to a point below the upper body ring 7, and upright members 12 arranged at the sides of the form and extending upwardly from the lowermost ring 9 to the lower ends of the shoulder-members to which they are united. The several wires 7 to 12 inclusive constitute the body portion of the bust form.

In its preferred 7 construction the bust form is provided in opposite sides with upright slots or passages 13 formed by the pairs of side wires 12 and extending upwardly from the lower end of the form to within a short distance of its shoulder-portion. The upper ends of these slots rest normally upon the end portions of the cross bar 4 of the T-stand. They are of the proper width to pass freely over said cross I bar and yet sufficiently narrow to prevent objectionable backward and forward play of the form upon said bar.

The bust form is prevented from rocking, tilting or swinging forward and backward on the cross bar by holding or steadying means of any appropriate construction, preferably carried by the form and engaging a part of the display stand. In the preferred construction illustrated in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, these holding devices consist of a pair of spring clasps extending inwardly from the front and rear portions of the lowermost ring 9 and embracing opposite sides of the adjustable rod 3 of the display stand, thus practically forming braces which center the lower portion of the bust form on the stand and firmly hold it in its normal position. In the construction shown in the drawings, each of these spring clasps is bent from a single piece of wire and comprises side bars 14 soldered or'otherwise secured at their outer ends to the ring 9 and a cross bar 15 connecting the inner ends of said bars and provided with a central indentation or depression 16 which embraces the upright member of the T-stand. Bythis construction, the bust form is held against lateral displacement on the cross bar 4 of the stand and at the same time prevented from rocking backward and forward thereon. To increase the elasticity of the spring clasps their side bars are preferably provided with coils 17.

To obtain the best results, the clasps are preferably arranged to incline more or less from their inner toward their outer ends, as shown.

By this improvement both the upper and lower portions of the bust form are firmly supported and held in their normal upright position and the garment carried thereby is properly and neatly displayed.

In order to remove the bust form from the T-stand it is only necessary to spread or spring the holding clasps upwardly sufficiently to admit the cross bar 4 between ward each other and against the upright {pember of the stand after clearing the cross If desired, the clasps, holding or steadying devices of the bust form may be constructed and arranged to engage the cross bar 4 instead of the upright members 1 or 3 of the stand. Such a modification is shown in Fig. 4, where the clasps 18 are shown as extending upwardly and inwardly from the lower ring 9 of the bust form to a point opposite the cross bar 4, the free inner ends of the clasps being provided with indentations or depressions 19 which embrace the front and rear sides of said bar, thus preventing rocking or tilting of the bust form, as in the first described embodiment of the invention. The clasps 18 are further provided at their upper ends with projections or finger pieces 20 extending above the cross bar 4, by which means they can be readily disengaged from the bar for removing the form from the stand.

The invention while affording the advantages above described does notmaterially increase the cost of the bust form.

I do not wish to be limited to the particular construction of the bust form or the holding clasps herein shown and described as they may be obviously modified within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of the invention.

I claim as my invention:

1. A garment form having slots for receiving the cross bar of a display stand and means arranged to engage a part of the upwardly from its lower end and adapted to pass over the cross bar of a display stand, and spring clasps extending inwardly from opposite sides of the form and adapted to engage a part of the stand.

A garment form having side slots extending upwardly from its lower end and adapted to pass over the cross bar of a display stand, and spring clasps attached to the front and rear portions of the form and extending inwardly and upwardly there from, said clasps being adapted to embrace opposite sides of a part of the stand.

5. A garment form having slots adapted to pass over the cross bar of a displaystand and spring clasps secured at their outer ends to opposite sides of the form and provided at their free inner ends with depressions adapted to engage a part of the stand.

6. A garment form having slots adapted to pass over the cross bar of a display-stand and spring clasps extending inwardly from opposite sides of the form and each comprising side bars secured at their outer ends to the form and provided with coils and a cross bar connecting the inner ends of said bars and having a depression adapted to engage a part of the stand.
