HENRY R. HEYL, 0F PHILADELPHIAJMBENNSLYANIA. A-,
Letters Patent No. 104,151, (lated .fune 14, 1870: interland )Illy 30, 1870.v
IMPROVED METHOD OF MOUNTING` CROQUET-BOARDS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of `the same.
To all whom it @nag/honoraria Be it known that I, HENRY It. I-IEYL, ot Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia, in the State of ennsyl'vania, have invented a new and improved Method of Mounting Croquet-Boards; and I do hereby declare that the followingl is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my inventiouconsists in the manner of mounting the board, so that it will admit of the changes in position, as shown in figs. l and 2- VFigure l representing a croquet-board as arranged for use, and f' Figure 2 is a representa-tion of the same in a form that will occupy the least room when not iu use.
The general construct-ion of my invention I shall describe as follows, viz:
A board or table, made iu the usual manner as adapted to an indoor` game of croquet, is mounted upon pivots E E, which are attached to and project from the middle of both ends of theboard, and restin bearings in and near the top of the end posts of the supporting-flame A A, so that the board can be placed in a horizontal or vertical position by simply turning it ou these pivots.
Vlo secure 'it in a horizont-a1 position for use, the braces B B B B (being hinged to the pedestal at their lower ends, at g g,) are separated at the top until they reach the point-s 0 C on the ends of the board, and are there secured by thu rnb-screws passing through the slots in the braces, and into. the'board. l
These appliances make it a very easy matter to level the board, and keep it so; and, when not in use, it
may as readily be tilted up, and the braces secured in' the position shown in iig. 2.
That I claim as my improvement in croquet-tables is- The arrangement of the uprights A A, pivots E E,
braces B B, with their adjusting thumb-screws c, and pivots g g, as shown, for the purpose described.
' H. It. HEYL.
Witnesses A. B. STovELL, E. OsCAR HAEUPTNER.
