GAME APPARATUS.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, VVILLIAM C. MARTI- NEAU, a citizen of the United States, residing at Albany, Albany county, New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a game apparatus or device, comprising a stationary or receiving part and a movable or rolling part adapted to be propelled toward and upon said stationary part, and to be there received and retained in a particular position. Its object is to provide means for a simple, childish game, which is also capable of exercising the skill of adults.

In the drawings, Figures 1, 3 and 5 are top plan views of different forms of the stationary part of my device; Figs. 2, 4 and 6 are respectively vertical sections of these three forms, taken on the planes 2-2, 4-4 and 6-6 of Figs. 1, 3 and 5; Fig. 7 is an elevation of the ball or movable part of the device adapted to be used with any of the stationary parts shown.

Referring first to Figs. 1 and 2, in the device, shown as stamped from a blank of sheet metal, 11 designates an inclined trapezoidal plane, supported by triangular wings 12, and having projected from its raised end a horizontal portion 13, shown as rectangular, in which is a depression 14, formed by cutting cross slots 15 through the metal and bending down the resulting triangular lugs 16.

21, Fig. 7, is a ball or sphere of wood, hard rubber, or othermaterial,bearing on its surface a plurality of independent indicia or characteristics 22, shown as numerals of different values.

The game is played by placing the stationary part on a table or floor with the head portion 13 relatively removed from the player, who endeavors to roll ball 21 up in clined plane 11 and to seat it in depression 14. Each player attempts this in turn, one who succeeds adding to his score the sum indicated by the numeral 22, which is uppermost or most nearly uppermost as the ball lies in depression 14.

In the form of my device shown in Figs. 3 and 4, inclined plane 11, wings 12 and horizontal head portion 13 may be as before described. The ball seat is here formed by cutting in head 13 an arch-shaped slot and bending down the tongue 84- thus tormed. An arrow is stamped or otherwise marked on the surface of plane 11 with its head adjacent the root of tongue 34. Obviously, the playing of the game is unchanged, eXcept that it is the numeral most nearly adjacent the point of the arrow 35 which the player adds to his score.

11 and 12 remaining the same, the ball-receiving head portion comprises a horizontal deck 52, a curved rear wall 53, a forwardly extending top part 54 pierced by a circular aperture 55, and an upwardly curved lip 56, the whole being formed of slightly resilient metal. The ball 21, indicated in dotted lines in Fig. (3, is oi a diameter slightly greater than the vertical distance between the deck 52 and the base of lip 56, and so as to be free between the base and the rim of aperture In playing, one is obliged to roll ball 21, not merely in the central line of plane 11, but also with just sufficient force to raise lip 56 and permit the ball to seat itself under and within aperture 55. The particular numeral 22 on ball 21 which is wholly or in greater part visible through aperture 56 is the number scored.

It is obvious that many mechanical clianges, other than those shown, may be made in my device; and that any desired material may be employed, without departing from my invention; which essentially includes a ball or the like hearing a plurality of indicia of different values and a seat into which the ball may be rolled, the inclined plane serving as a convenient means for leading the ball to the seat.

What I claim is:

1. Game apparatus comprising a part providing a depressed seat and means leading to said seat; and a rolling part having on its face indicia of different values.

2. Game apparatus comprising a part providing a depressed seat and an inclined plane leading to said seat; and a rolling part having on its face indicia of different values.

3. Game apparatus comprising a part providing a ball seat and an inclined plane leading to said seat; and a ball having on its face indicia of different values.

4:. Game apparatus comprising a part providing an inclined plane and an apertured ball receiving portion at the head of 10 said plane; and a ball having on its face indicia of different values.
